Not sure if I saw it here or not but.... I just got a 30th anniversary silver/black Kershaw blur, 1670? I think. When I slowly peeled the price sticker off of it I was still left with a dirty gum sludge. I remembered that good old WD40 was supposed to remove this crud, I tried it, and it wiped off cleanly. So maybe this is a reminder to those that knew or a heads up to those that don't.

Rubber cement thinner will remove it also and won't leave a residue. Not good for your skin though.

Rubber Cement thinner, may also be very bad on some plastics, I wouldn't recommend it on anything but metals and glass.

fyi - lighter fluid is an excellent spot remover (says so right on the can) and will remove any sticker crud from surfaces. it will remove chewing gum and oil stains from clothes. it has never harmed anything plastic while ive been using it. its safe on plastic handled knives.,,,

I second the lighter fluid. It works great.

Isopropyl alcohol also works really well. I typically have more of that in the medicine cabinet so it's what I go to first.

When I was young(er) and stupid(er) I tried cleaning off a Victorinox Classic with lacquer thinner. It worked so well the first time that I cleaned it every time it got dirty with the stuff. I was only about 10, and didn't realize how strong the stuff was even though my fingerprints would melt into the plastic afterwards. Eventually the little Victorinox shield was free from its bonds and fell right out :D
