We all have done it......

The last cut I got wasn't from a knife but from a pair of BBQ tongs. As I was washing it my thumb some how got cut by an un-rounded edge. Hearing some of the injuries you guys have makes me glad I' really careful around knives.

(just remembered

) The last time I cut myself was at a knife store. It was with one of those Kershaw knives with the speed-safe spring. I had never held one before and didn't recognize it. The salesman handed it to me without warning me so I just tried to open it like a normal folder. I got it part way open and when it jumped out the rest of the way, somehow the serrations caught my thumb. He didn't even offer me a band aid, so I bled on all the rest of the knives I fondled. Later that day at another knife store, the salesman there handed me the same knife, and I told him that next time he hands that knife to someone he should warn them.

Suggest you don't pay extra for the blood stains . . . they're gonna' be there shortly anyway!

Back when Benchmade shipped SHARP knives, I ordered a mini-AFCK. First lock-blade folder I ever owned. First time I closed it, the blade tip caught my little finger and made a neat cut about 3/16 inch deep . . . I stifled the bleeding with a towel and applied pressure for several minutes . . . the cut never opened up again and healed virtually overnight. One advantage to cutting yourself with a sharp blade.

My personal worst was my stupidity using the ultra thin razor sharp Ross Aki SBM machete to cut some very high grass in places I can't reach with a mower. I hate noisey weed wackers, so I just grab the beautiful SBM and trim away. In this case, I had grabbed a big tuft of grass in my left hand, and while holding it, swung under my hand with the machete. I don't usually swing so close to my hand, but big mistake this time. Off came a nice slice of skin and tissue about 1/2" long 1/4" wide, and maybe 1/32" deep from my index finger! Bled profusely for a while, even through a couple of pressure bandages. Healed very slowly. Nice scar now, very prominant, but I don't talk about it much. My whip scars are much more romantic!

You have to pay attention
To which edge of the knife is sharp.
It's your fault if dereliction
leads to unintended blood shed in the dark.

So keep on eye on what you're doing
And don't let distraction cause you pain.
The little nips and scars you'll be accruing
Aren't fun enough to do again and again.

You know, I never did a thing like that;
Well, maybe once or twice ...
Stabbed myself in the ball of the thumb
With a carpet knife; that wasn't nice.

Ouch yse I've done it but never that bad ouch again. One time I was playing with my stiletto (lost in the rhythm of opening and closing) when I got an inch in my leg. well I went to scratch it and tore a nice little gash in my leg with the backside of the blade. Of course I've (I'm sure most of us in fact) have cut myself so many times that I instantly had pressure on it and it almost didn't bleed. Left a nice little scar though I have to admit but I really like that little knife especially for how cheap it is.
