I’ve seen a darker “acid”:treatment on some knives, can’t remember if you do anything like it.

I think what some people are thinking of is the reinforced tip. Where it's thicker at the tip. At least I am, but 3/16 of INFI is pretty damn strong.

Looks more like a traditional shobu style in your pics.
The angled tip of the Side Piece doesn’t look reinforced like a “traditional” tip that has similar angles.
Still a nice knife and not knocking it.
