We Have A Winner In The Solve The Riddle Contest!!!!

Considering the current Free Rein starts out at $730 coated, has 24" OAL, 16" blade... I'm going to guess $850 starting price (coated), going up from there.

I sincerely hope your right.
But, going from a 16" to 28" inch blade....
Now, I assume they mean a 28" blade?

If they're talking a 28" blade (which I'm doubting), then I'd expect them to lengthen the handle area to be more in keeping with a full katana. Which would probably put the OAL up to about 40". We're talking a full-size Butaniku at that point. And I'm wondering if that would be doable with the Resciprene handle. If so, then I'd expect it to go for $1250-$1300. If they end up going with micarta or G10, then yeah... over $1500.

At least that's my guess.

Personally, my preference (at this point) would be for the "28" being OAL, with all the increased length from the original Free Rein being in the blade. That would pretty much give you a 20" blade, which it still fully capable with just the hand-and-a-half grip that the Free Rein has.

But, their designing is done, so this is all just speculation and wishing.

So, 2.25” of extra blade, and 2.25” of extra handle?
Yeah... am I being ungrateful that that is a little bit of a let down? Even still... I'm going to have to think hard on this one. It's only an inch longer than the AK47 and the Wakizashi I already have (in SR-101), bladewise. Well... maybe 1.25".

I can understand it being a difficult decision based on what you already own. Some folks are happy with what they have, while others would kill for an extra inch. If you didn’t have a single sword, I think it would be a no brainer. For me, the absolutely stellar HNWS has drained my sword fund. Saves me the trouble of having to justify the FR 28. If I was a baller, I’d get ‘em all. As it stands, I’m saving for the inevitable folder.

Yeah.... the more I think about it, the more I'm probably going to skip this one, and hope that they actually bring out a true longer sword. I was getting stoked thinking maybe it would be a full 20" blade....
Plus, I ,too, have a HNWS, albeit SR101. And the TNT15, which really isn't in this league. Although I really just got it for a short sword, to replace the Rucki my daughter absconded with.
