We have a winner, or technically winners!
Winning post by Aias
Winning nominee is a former student of his/her and is currently serving in the U.S. Army. Hopefully Aias can at least share his name.

Thank you to all the members who entered. A HUGE THANK YOU to all their nominees and all our country's veterans for their service.
Randy

I’ve been a member of BladeForums for not quite 10 months. I have always been amazed by the generosity of member giveaways. Some members celebrate milestones in their membership, some want to give back to their favorite forum(s), and it seems some just like giving stuff away! Kudos to all past, present, and future member GAWs.

Tomorrow is Veteran’s Day and it also happens to be my wife’s birthday. For me it is definitely a day to celebrate the women I love, but this Veteran’s Day I’d like to also celebrate those individuals who have served and are currently serving in our country’s Armed Services with my first giveaway. It is my way of acknowledging and thanking them for their service and sacrifice. I never served, so this is my less than adequate way of showing my appreciation and gratitude.

I’d like to give away a 2007 Canal Street 231504 Two Blade Trapper, #024, Amber Jigged Bone, D2 steel. Full disclosure, I received this knife in a trade with a fellow member. It appeared to have never been carried, and if it was, I believe it was hardly ever used. The clip blade did have a small nick on the edge about in the middle. I believe it was cause by the blade hitting a high spot in the liner. I sent the knife back to Canal Street for a warranty repair, the problem was corrected, and the knife is currently in excellent condition.

Here are the rules:
GAW is open to all members, BUT, instead of your entry being your chance to win, it will be a chance for a veteran or an active duty individual that you know to receive the knife.
Enter as many times as you wish, but try to consider a different possible recipient with each new entry.
Please share anything you would like about your ‘nominee’, and if you feel it is appropriate and it won’t create any privacy or security issues, please include their name, branch of service, time of service, unit, etc.
Give away starts immediately and will close at 11:59 pm Saturday 11/15.
The winning post and the recipient will be picked Sunday 11/16 by a random number generator.
I will ship anywhere in CONUS. Any additional shipping will be the responsibility of the member with the winning post.

As I mentioned before, this is my first giveaway so I hope I have all the bases covered. Let me know immediately if anything needs to be changed.

And lastly, to all the fine men and women who have served or are currently serving, THANK YOU never seems to be enough.

I nominate my son-in-law Adam Erickson, former active duty (Army Airborne 82nd) and current National Guard (GA Signal Corps).

He is recently laid-off, he & my daughter have a 6 mo son. He could use cheering up!

Cheers, Ed

I nominate my buddy Cliff - he's a 20+ year USAF veteran with some health issues. currently his daily carry is an old kabar lockback that his wife keeps "borrowing". (I remember he enlisted in 72, don't remember if he got out in 93 or 94)

thanks for the generosity!

Nominating my friend Matthew, he's a Medic in the Navy, I he's still serving, I believe it's his third year. His EDC is a SOG Escape

I nominate my co-worker/mentor joe. Joe srerved in the army during vietnam i have no idea what unit or anything all i have hear from him is he took care of some wild/ferrel dogs he doesnt talk about it much. He is 65years old and works as hard probablly harder than myself at 27 i would be honored to honor him with this. And THANK YOU TO ALL WHO SERVE OR HAVE SERVED OUR COUNTRY

Thank you for your generosity. I nominate my brother who served in Vietnam and was in the 101st airborne.

R Mac, Just a fantastic GAW:thumbup: I respectfully abstain but wanted to thank you for your generosity and a very nice knife.

It is also my wife's Birthday as well tomorrow. Wish your wife a very Happy Birthday;)

Not an entry. But I love this idea, the person I would nominate is 92. My step grandfather. He was a navigator on a B17 and was shot down flying over Germany. He bailed out but upon touching down in hi parachute broke both of his legs. German soldiers captured him and took him to a POW camp where a German doctor saved his life and brought him back to health. Listening to him talk about how he and the other soldiers were treated really changed how I thought about the common German soldier, they were very good to him. When I first met him he was still using the cane he was given by the doctor in the camp. He is a pretty amazing man and am honored for him to be a part of my family. Arthritis has gotten the better of him or I would throw him into the entries. I have a lot of respect for our soldiers both veterans and active duty. And I hope they get the respect they deserve tomorrow.

This is an awesome idea for a giveaway! I never saw something like this but this is really cool.

My brother served in the latest Iraq war and was a gunner in a convoy with the US Army. He signed up in 2003 and experienced a lot of stuff that is still with him and will probably be a part of his personality forever.
He always has a knife on him and honesty he uses a knife more than anyone I know. He lives to fish, hunts, trap, and spend time in the woods. He doesn't know how to sharpen and asks me sharpen his knife whenever he sees me and I'm shocked by the amount of use his knives go through.

He's used to pretty cheap knives, I think a couple blades made from D2 would really serve him well!

Again, great Giveaway!

Thank you, this is a great idea for a giveaway. I'd like to nominate the son of a fellow forum member and friend. Since they've already mentioned their son's service here, I hope it's OK to name them - Pertinux

Fantastic idea for a giveaway.

I'd like to nominate my step father. The only dad I ever knew. Dual service USMC/US Army retired at 23 years total service. 5 time veteran of the Afganistan/Iraq campaigns (post 9/11). He has also been deployed to Uzbekistan, Korea and some places in the 80's during his time with the Corps (He hasn't shared and I haven't bothered).

His jobs have been many from his start as a mechanic on the F-4 phantom, time spent running convoys for resupply on the PLS to his work with wounded soldiers in the Warriors transition battalion. Twice wounded himself without mention.

All around great guy imho, he'd be thrilled with a token of gratitude for his service from a complete stranger. Again, awesome awesome idea here. I hope whoever wins this can enjoy it in good health. Thanks to all the nominees and to those who have served or are serving our nation.

Not an entry, just too many to pick from. Being a veteran myself, I would like to thank you for the fantastic giveaway!
Semper Fidelis!

Not an entry. The only veteran in my life that uses a traditional is already carrying a D-2 trapper that I gifted him. I just wanted to say thank you for such a fine giveaway. At the very least it causes us to take a minute out of our day to think about the people in our lives that were willing to give everything away so that we don't have to. Thank you for that.

I'd like to enter on behalf of a coworker of mine. His name is Tom, and he served in the US Army in Germany, Bosnia, Korea, and several other places. He's currently working as an auto tech and carries an old Buck 112 that is about worn down to a nub. He is hands-down the most genuine, selfless, and hardworking tech we've ever had, and I'm very proud to call him a friend.

Thanks for doing this, Randy!

Great GAW; I have quite a few students who are rotc and are due to serve soon, however, the one I have in mind for the knife has graduated and is serving... he is an officer in Army intelligence so I can't say much more. He was one of my very best students--a brilliant young man, and we are lucky to have him serving our country. He contacts me from time to time and so I'll hold it for him until we meet up again. We discussed knives, firearms, and hand-to-hand combat many time, and even lightly spared.

Happy Veterans Day to all serving. Thanks again for your generosity, OP; great idea for a giveaway!

Very generous giveaway. I would like to nominate my dad who served during Vietnam. I would also like to take this time to pay homage to both of my grandpa's who served their country faithfully during WWII. One as a officer in the Army, the other as a MM2 Seabee in the Navy.
