WE Knife Thoughts

I am a lover of American made pocket knives and my collection of EDC knives shows this. I am however, and somewhat hesitantly as it goes against some of my major beliefs, attracted to and considering a WE Knife. If you are a WE Knife owner I’d like to hear your impression of your knife. The good and the bad. Thanks

I could probably go on and on as to why they're my favorite brand going, but I'm probably considered a "homer" :p

What models are catching your attention?

I really like their designs but I can't spend $300 on their knives. Way too steep for me. You can damn near by a sebenza at that point.

they are very well made knves, with great features. I'm not crazy about the models with the purple hardware, the newer ones with gold hardware look better, that was my only gripe.

To be fair, WeKnives and CRK aren't really a good comparison IMO. In my opinion, a knife buyer would buy a Sebenza for different reasons than a We, and vice versa. Their only real direct comparison is the materials (Ti framelocks {mostly,}) they cut stuff, and a price point that's within shouting distance of each other. A major selling point of WeK is that they produce very high quality flippers and a wide range of models with excellent flipping and cycling performance; CRK produces a focused set of classic non-flippers in their (very good) style.

YMMV ~

(I'm one of those people that admires CRK knives - I particularly like the large Inkosi's with the micarta inlays - but I'm really not interested in purchasing one. I like to flip my knives, and CRK's just don't do it for me in the overall package of what I want to carry. Beautiful, great blades with a well deserved reputation, but that's part of where I'm coming from when I say they aren't *really* a good comparison because they are so different.)

It's completely insane how many models WE has released in the past several months. I can't keep up with them all. Most of them are a little too large for my tastes (and the couple of 3" and under ones they have aren't my style), but I've heard nothing but great things about their quality.

I have 2, a 603a and a 606. I am unable to find a flaw on either one. Sounds silly, but it's true.
Never thought I would ever spend $250 on a Chinese made knife, but I'm really glad I did!
I would say go for it......you won't be sorry!

I own the following WE knives:
601, 604, 605, 606, 615, 616.
I'm taking a hard look at the 618, 619 and 620.
They've all been great knives, but some I like better than others. My favorites are the 616 and the 606 with the 615 just behind them. There's nothing wrong with the others, they just don't work for me as well but YMMV.

My advice is pick a style and color that appeals to you and make the plunge. Shop around because there are some online sellers who put different models on sale for around $200. They're a great value at that price.

Purple would have to agree. That color only looks good imo on electro/flame anodized timascus and such. Otherwise on plain Ti is just too girly for me. But im very fond of a newer chinese brand called MAXACE, particularly their Cicada and Halictus models. The only thing holding me back is that its ~$300 and warranty is what concerns me since not based in US. Other than that its A-OK.

Current WeKnives US Warranty is handled by VKnives, in Pennsylvania.

Just ordered 606 CF green, almost $300.00 for a Chinese knife please tell me I am not nuts!!

Just a sweet looking blade hope It meets or surpasses my expectations.

They are doing some very cool color combos and blade shapes imo.

I'd never paid much attention to that WE model but that blue/bronze/black combo sure looks sweet! Another thing from that post: most WE models appear to be skeletonized, making them more friendly in the pocket. I've wished ZT would skeletonize liners for a long time, but as a result a typical 4" WE will weigh less than most other 4" blades in the price range. This may not be preferable for everyone but I love the weight reduction.

Imho WE as well as other very very similar companies in china are where the best quality and bang for the buck is coming from in knives. Its not like the premium materials they are using are just slapped together. They are really making a fine product. Incant think of a single US company offering what these new chinese brands are offering. And if they do its significantly more money and much harder to get. Even in custom knives many of appointments found on a WE are not common and when they are implemented its big money. I personally feel if people can get over certain unwarranted stigmas of buying a chinese knife then they are in for getting one hell of a knife. I know its hard to think of spending $300+ on a chinese folder but when you look at what we is offering at that price its really an appealing package. And that same knife from any usa based company is gonna fetch double if not triple te price. WE imho is one of the brands offering a true value to the customer. Rather than inflated prices because of a collaborative effort with minimal appointments.
