Five of us started early today; a group of guys that like to make pointy things out of large bars. Seven o'clock and we had both forges fired up and the sound of the hammer bought the neighbors to life by quarter after:).
Sweet music; if you are a forge nut.:)

We worked till noon and then had a sit down meal of perch, venison, fried potatoes and cole slaw.
It was hard to get moving after lunch.

We worked till about three and finished up quite a few projects.

I guess you could call this the christening day for the new smithy. It was great to get together with a bunch of friends and spend the day forging and talking steel.

The Big Blue air hammer really packed a punch, set on a 10 inch thick floor.

Carl must be telling a whopper here.

They must be discussing a better way of doing something.

Hope all of you had a good weekend also, Fred

I'm not real photogenic:) The cigar smoking pictures while forging are nice. This was a great day and we all got a lot accomplished. I came home with 6 blades heat treated for the Ohio Classic show. I also forged out a big 14" cable fighter and a smaller 6" W2 drop point. I also came home with a half of that large billet I am forging above:) Great food, good friends and hot steel = a great day.

I'll look for your shades, when I pick up around the smithy.

Looks like you guys had a blast, and that is a seriously nicely tooled shop.
Chris

WE just completed the new shop a few weeks ago; this was the first time we had a chance to get a group of smiths together to enjoy it.

What a great time Fred, I think everyone got all the work done they wanted to,I know I did. Outstanding lunch as well, can't wait to do it again. Moon

Cool pic's. But I question your safety practices. Anyone just stand in my smithy must wear safety glasses.;)

And a cool hat and shades with a knowing smirk on their face.:D

I would have enjoyed seeing your ugly mug here on Saturday.

Maybe someday:thumbup:
