I'm very sorry to have to make this post but it's just one of those things that happens. I just got off the phone with Pala and here it is.
Narayan, the fellow who does the tooling on our scabbards got into a khukuri fight during the Tihar break. These holidays often involve a lot of drinking and gambling and arguments can break out and sometimes turn very violent. This is the reason khukuris are locked up during Dasein and Tihar at all Gorkha encampments.
The bad news is Narayan killed his opponent and is now a fugitive. We think he left Nepal and went to India. And more bad news is he was the only guy at BirGorkha who could tool the leather nicely. So, we may be seeing plain scabbards until we can find a replacement.
Again, apologies for bad news at holiday time but the lack of tooling needs an explanation.
