Not a gentleman's folder section, but a gentleman's knife section with 3" blades and under, slim and elegant. No black blades, tanto's, tactical, etc., need apply.

Feel free to start a topic about your favorite gentleman's knife.

Right. But traditionals may not be what the OP had in mind.

I'd definitely visit a Gentleperson's Subforum if one existed on BF.

The thing is when you get into classifications largely based on style preferences allot comes down to subjectivity. I would call a William Henry or a Mnadi a gentleman's knife but at the same time I would also throw a Spyderco Cricket into the mix as well while others would disagree.

This is quite true. When I think "gentleman's knife" I think of a small, elegant folder, perhaps embelished with expensive handle material like mother-of-pearl or semi-precious stones that I might slip into my suit pants when getting dressed up. On the other hand, I have seen some people use the term "gentleman's knife" for anything that is not a sharpened crowbar. ;)

I think we're smart enough to know that, even under the most unusual of circumstances, a Busse Combat Argonne Assault couldn't be considered a gentleman's knife. ;)

Seriously, there aren't any restrictions I'm aware of on any subforums as to what may or may not be discussed, included, excluded, etc. It's up to those who visit the subforums to police themselves and if they get too far astray, it's up the moderators to manage them properly. So I don't really see people who consider Pole Axes as gentleman's knives becoming a problem.

I'm not saying that we will have people arguing that a great sword is a gentleman's knife or that the tiny disagreements will be a huge problem but you won't find a full consensus. Already I disagree with the OP's definition. "No black blades..." For the most part I agree but what about the new Boker anti MC? It has a black blade but I can't see it as anything but a dress knife. Note I see nothing wrong with posting threads of gentleman's or dress knives but I can't see setting up a sub-forum for something with a fluid operational definition.

I can. But that's just me.

First knives I'd probably offer up are all the DLC-coated William Henry's . . . just to yank the OP's chain! ;) :D

I feel rather Gentlemanly with my cognac, cohibas and my Battle Mistress. Faithful mutt sitting beside my old leather arm chair. Throw in a watanabe neck knife, and a pocket full of spydercos and benchmades and I'm like the venerable Count of my Man Cave (errre....garage as it were).

Hmmmm, sounds like code for "snobby elitist section" to my ears.
