We Need an Inspirational Revolution!

You are right... That why I think the IFS-20 is such a revolutionary design. More will be coming out like this... It only costs $8100 lol

I have a CF version of the Eruo Barlow on reserve actually! I'm excited for it. I would have to agree with the white washing of the traditional realm. Let some people bring in new ideas for Pete's sake. It's like a sacred brotherhood that can't be tapped into unless it follows strict guidelines. Change is good.

ETA: I still love a traditional slipjoint. Especially in micarta
Ditto on all points apart from the Micarta (I prefer wood). :) I've also got a CF Euro Barlow reserved. As you said, finally taking the practical advantages of the traditional without the baggage of history.

The Koenig Zenaida is a production folding knife which is put together with no screws.

Josh, I've seen his WIP's on IG..he obviously knows how to transform what he's dreaming up in his mind into a physical form. Such an amazing design. Now if he would only consider a midtech version for us peasants haha.

This one has always done it for me. It's so mechanical looking and the lock is a thing of genius.

It's also somehow practical and usable for light EDC. Despite the lack of texture, the ergonomics lock it into your hand and the cant of the blade downwards makes it quite useful.

Oh how could I forget. The Asheville Steel Paragon Warlock Knife. This thing is truly unique. Or how about knives like the discontinued Lone Wolf Defender. I have always wanted a Spyderco Bi-Folder but it is unfortunately considered an Auto.

I love unique knife mechanisms.

That's a polliwog, not a bi-fold...

So you want '..."unorthodox" modeling or style. Bizarre, abstract, foreign, peculiar, unusual, or just plain different.'? Try one of these...

From L --> R (oddness in parentheses)
1. SAK Sentinel (one handed liner lock SAK)
2. Li'l Guppy (well, just because:D)
3. Douk Douk (it's got a dancing Pacific Islander cannibal on it:mad:)
4. Opinel (oddest locking mechanism around, and bonus for this one a corkscrew in the back of the handleo_O)

Would love to handle a Sawby Self-Lock

Well then...this one is certainly interesting for a terrible lack of a better word. Remarkable fit and finish on it too, my gosh. I dug some shallow research and found that the locking mechanism is actually part of the pivot, and vice versa. I'm trying to wrap my mind around this one and reading the patent for this lock makes me feel primitive. Anyways, heres a schematic from Mr. Sawby himself: SelfLock

Man, I love my Douk Douk! So simple but still curious in its own right. The cannibal is just icing on the French pastry! Also, I've almost bought a Vic one-hander so many times...not sure why I haven't pulled the trigger. Oh wait, I'm broke. The lil guppy is neat. Props should be given to CRKT for taking on these outlandish designs and collaborations.

I am toying with getting a French knife, likely one of the following:

I don't think that the ifs 20 is really that revolutionary. It's still a Ti framelock, which I've seen plenty of. I'm sick of titanium, especially smooth, untextured gray. My ideal knife would be a Manix 2 CTS-XHP flipper with wood scales and a sheepsfoot/insingo blade.

The reason the IFS20 is unique is because it is built without screws. Rather it fits together like a gun fits together by the parts interfacing with one another.

The Koenig Zenaida is another screwless knife which fits together through dovetailing.

That Wildsteer isnreally a unique knife. They make some truly bizzare designs. That Actilam T3c looks awesome too. They have a version with a pocket clip mounted on the spine.

The CRKT Homefront is pretty unique too. Those Rollock knives are pretty gangster too.

I second the Hawk lock as an ingenious variation on lock & deployment design. Some have said the Hawk lock is like an Axis lock. I have Benchmades and they are nothing like the feel & operation of the R.A.M. I got a Kershaw R.A.M. on the exchange and immediately fell in love with the way it works, feels & sounds. It's not on bearings and it's not assisted but it feels like it IS both of those things, sort of, maybe better. It's a drag that Kershaw discontinued it because I'd buy five more! Why? I don't know, I guess I'm a sucker for cool, new & different...when it really works! It's been around for years apparently, but I just learned about it recently. The semi-good news is that there's another Hawk Lock Kershaw that was shown initially in 2016 but still hasn't come out yet. I've talked to Gavin Hawk, Knifecenter and Kershaw about it. That all say it is still coming out, just not sure when exactly because they (Kershaw & the Hawks) "are still perfecting it". It's called the Kershaw Induction. It's not an expensive knife and has only ok Chinese steel on it, still...I can't WAIT for it to finally be produced. I know the Hawk MUDD has a version of the Hawk lock but I haven't felt it in hand and its not a flipper. I suspect the Induction is going to feel and operate like the R.A.M and I'm waiting with baited breath for it to hit the streets. If you haven't felt the Hawk Lock on a R.A.M., if you can find one...you are in for a treat. -- PS. the three little "thumb studs on it" suck but hey, it's a flipper. And MAN what a flipper it is.

Yeah I think Camillus already beat Kershaw to the punch on cranking out some new Hawk Lock knives by Greg & Gavin with their revised Heat,Sizzle, and Wildfire models at least this time around. It's those springs attached to that V-cut steel piece pushing that little side bolt into locking position that help it feel assisted.I don't know though...I've had some positive experiences with CRKT's designs. The CRKT BladeLock II knife by Michael Walker I fell in love with pretty quickly-very rigid lock-up and interesting technology. As a design that wasn't ambidextrous and built for speed though I could see why the BladeLock didn't get resurrected to compete with newer lock designs.

CRKT also takes a lot of criticism for their LAWKS and AutoLAWKS design as well which are very nice. All I can say about the LAWKS is if it was used exclusively by a USA made knife brand and marketed the same way? you'd hear a lot less trash talk about it.
