We need some more pics of Traditional knives

I hope this will be a pic of a limited edition Trapper Folder made for LLBean by Bowen. Actually, I just want to figure how to post a pic on this forum. ;)

The engraving in the blade doesn't show up well in the photo.

Carl

Don,

I can't remember exactly, but it would have to be close to 20y/o maybe more. It has 0525 etched in the bullet inlay on the handle. I believe it was a special edition made for LLBean's 75th anniversary even though it doesn't say that anywhere in the engraving.

Glad you liked it.

These knives are original; no cleaning, part replacements, or reworking of any kind. If you get into antiques knives, do your homework! Around a third of the mint/near-mint old knives I see for sale these days (outside of a few very reputable dealers, and even they let a few slip by) have been reworked or cleaned in some way, particularly at ebay.

Rick,

Those are killer! Some of the nicest vintage knives I've seen. Great etches and bone. I'm sure those are worth a boatload of money.

I've bought a few vintage knives recently and realized there's a lot more homework involved compared to my other knives. If you're willing, I'd be interested in hearing who the reputable dealers are. Those old knives sure have a lot of craftsmanship in them.

Thanks for posting,

Mike

Rick,

Thanks for the "heads up" about Ebay...I usually believe whatever people say about their knives...I know I need to work on this!!

Anybody know where I could find approximate values for knives. The Bowen/Bean Limited Edition Trapper for example. I also have a set of Scrade scrimshawed lockblades.

I always thought it would be good to inventory some of this stuff; guns, knives, bows, etc.

Thanks,

Carl
