we need to educate people about storing knives in a locked box

I have not seen anything in MA law about a limit on length. No autos, double edges, disguised (i.e. cane swords), and no ballistic knives. If you know where I can find a MA law on legal length limits please let me know.

actually, bfm, i haven't found any state reg's on length...and i've looked. so, size wise, most anything is safe.

im not 100% sure on the concealed part of the law. although im sure MA doesn't want any hidden "weapons", i don't remember seeing anything saying knives had to be in the open.

local(town/city) laws are more strict, and vary from locale to locale. and, they are very hard to find. none of them are online, and the people i've called seem to not have a clue. sometime, im gonna go down to the local police station and see if i can get my hands on the ordinances.

but, thats all i know. statewise, size doesn't matter(lol), but localwise, watch your back(or wherever you happen to carry).

About what I thought. And yes, I do carry there.

I just can't understand how these horrible stabbings could have occurred in Massachussetes. There it is illegal to carry a knife over 3 inches concealed. Isn't that law there to protect the public from this kind of violence? Shouldn't people be able to expect to be safe since there is anti-weapon legislation there to protect them? I just don't understand...</font>

My bad. I got the abbreviations mixed up and was looking at the laws for another state. Disregard.

Just a quick aside...
I SHOULD add that I keep the knives I'm NOT carrying locked up. When my 3 YO can take em off me, they get given to him then anyway.

We do teach my son not to play with knives, guns, poison, or run into the street.
But we also have locks on the cabinets where cleaners, etc are and I still hold his hand or carry him across the street.
I don't think I could tell him "See, I told you so" at his funeral.
Not quibbling with anyone, just my way. Kids should outlive their parents. Despite them selves

And Mass ended the week with two more stabbings. Both nonfatal. Both done by highschoolers. One used a screwdriver, the other a knife (haven't seen any word on what type). Better start locking toolboxes too. I think I heard something about a wait period at the Sears ToolCenter being proposed.
