Fellow Buckeroos!
The little brown truck of joy delivered the Buck 110 CPM154 Bos Rosewood folder this afternoon. I have subdued my excitement but this is one outstanding blade immediately becoming a favorite right behind my Alpha Hunters.
The blackening, rather than a paint job appears to be a chemical "bluing" in appearance to that of a firearm except more dark gray, a rather pleasing alternative to dull surface coatings so common on knives these days. Obviously, quality reigns at Buck!
If these were hot cakes at a church breakfast someone went home hungry. These knives are without a doubt some of the best ever made. I have three 110s: 440C, ATS34, and now CPM154. Can't wait for the nerxt batch of surprises! Buck, you did good.

Such clean lines, beautiful wood scales, shiny brass hardware, time-honored reliable backlock and a stealth blade:

This version of the 110, originally made for Bass Pro, has been my favorite for a few years. Excellent steel, and a seemingly smoother than normal blade opening and closing. One of the best (value) web specials ever....at least in my book.

Yes, I agree. Those are one of the best 110's Buck has made. That steel is top quality. That is a very hard blade coating not blueing. Plus, I like the sheath too, burgundy. DM

If you like, ping me with a mailing address and I will see what the mailing charge would be from here. The other issue is: Will this locking folder pass your customs? I want to help so please don't hesitate to contact me.

"Anticipation..." UPS says it's out for delivery at 4:58 AM this AM - probably arrive after 5 this evening. I carried my old BPS bought (big bucks...) one this weekend - including to Blade Saturday. I may polish it's brass so it can 'Man the Desk' in proper style and greet it's new siblings...

I had this conversation - again - with a vendor at Blade Saturday. Isn't CPM154 different from 154CM? Vendor said no... I heard that they were different.

Here's what I found:

From Crucibles DATA SHEET
"CPM 154 is CPM-manufactured version of Crucible's standard 154CM. The CPM manufacturing process produces a uniform distribution of the carbides in this grade, giving this CPM 154 easier grinding and polishing, plus better toughness than conventional 154CM, while retaining similar heat treat response and wear properties."
"CPM" is a powdered metal process.
There is no mention of a chemical difference between CPM 154 and 154 CM.

Hitachi makes ATS34 and Crucible makes 154CM. They are near identical in chemical make up.
The biggest difference in ATS 34/154 CM from 440C is that they both have about 3% less chromium and 4% more molybdenum than 440C.
There is no amount of vanadium listed for 154CM, ATS 34 or 440C.

Thanks for the gracious offer Oregon,it would clear customs no problem, but it appears they are now sold out.thanks just the same,i apprechiate it!

RB. My pleasure. Is there a Canadian Tire, selling the Buck 424 @ bargain basement prices in your neck of the woods?

Why,yes, there certainly is,they had quite a few of them in stock today when i was there as a matter of fact. They had a rack full of them today.

My UPS guy rang the doorbell at 6:30 PM! Anyway, they are here. Boxes are labelled 4/18/11 which agrees with the knifes' code dates of 2011. My other BPS 110 was dated '07. It's Bos symbol and CPM154 are 'right side up', while the new ones are upside down. Additionally, the newer ones appear to be a gold stamp, while the old one is impressed - and appears black - may be more of the coating accumulated there. I've definitely used the older one - it's coating doesn't show it, however. It's still fairly sharp, but the new ones are razors! Nice burgundy 'Made in Mexico' leather sheaths - they'll look great back in the box! Does anyone use a sheath to carry their 110?

Yeah, if they find more BPS 110s - you guys jump on them - they are a deal. The BPS 196 in CPM154 and 652 Nighthawk Bravo (Besh edge.) I got in the same shipment were great values, too. Thanks, Buck!

I like the tip down BOS. Easier to see I think

Does look gold in some light, and not in different light.

Stamp or etch?
