I guess it's OK to discuss websites here because most of us use them as makers so here's a quick answer Keith. This site was put up around Christmas last year. It is based on X-Cart software which I recommend to anyone looking for website options. It is IMHO far superior ( maybe just more user friendly and well featured) to the other carts we used such as OSCommerce and Comersus - and the only problems we have been finding are related to the mySQL database hosted on a windows server. That may be more related to our hosting company's prefernce (like most) for the stability of linux.
Switching over may be as simple as a 'switch platforms' button on our control panel and a day down while the new new server information circulates, or it may be a total loss if the database doesn't handle the switch and we'll be starting from scratch with several hundred products to install, upload photographs, re-do descriptions, shipping setups, ... pushing this button is a little scary but necessary.
If anyone is looking for site store software, I recommend this one - but I would consider hosting it on a linux platform.
Interested to know what solutions other makers and suppliers use - especially ones that can be operated and run independently.
Keith - no record of you there, so maybe it's been longer than since Christmas. Best wait a few days till it's back up. Pushing the switch button this evening.
Rob!
