Hello All! This will be my first post after being a BF member for quite sometime. I generally just like to read and enjoy all of the wonderful information that abounds on this forum. I have been interested and have loved knives ever since I won a cheap Pakistani stockman at a carnival when I was 8. I am now 25 and getting married on October 3rd of this year! So my question really is: On y'all's wedding days/nights did you carry a special knife? And if so what was it? I am thinking of doing something like that for my wedding and just need a little help narrowing it down a little. Obviously, since this post is in the traditional folders and fixed blades it would need to be along those lines. Thanks guys and I can't wait to hear from y'all.

On my wedding day I carried my Granddad's 1982 Buck 110 since he passed 6 months prior and could not be with us. It was very comforting knowing that a blade we used together was representing him on that special day.

Welcome RM, congrats on the big day:thumbup:

I wasn't into knives at the time, I wish I was, but did buy one on the honeymoon. Carry something that already means something, or a new one to add a memory. You'll probably remember her dress more than the knife. ;) but a knife in the pocket to later carry may jog a memory of that dress even more so. Remember, don't lock your knees....:D

All the best

Skip the tux, spend 2 grand on a custom knife, and storm the altar in your best pair of boxers.

I say buy your groomsmen all a nice little alox SAK. Buy yourself one too, and carry it in your jacket pocket. Maybe a SAK Alox Cadet or similar.

I purchased Case Mini Trappers for myself and my groomsmen. They all loved them and it is the knife I carry when I need to wear a suit nowadays.

What a great way to honor and Connect two people you love most.

I didn't carry a knife to my wedding, but carried a Victorinox Spartan on our honeymoon backpacking through Europe.

You'll want something sharp enough for the traditional "wedding night cutting off of the undergarments", but not too big or intimidating. ;) Kidding, but never really even thought about a "wedding knife".

Well my wedding was enough years ago that I've forgotten way too much of it. But I wasn't really a bladehead then. Actually have carried a knife of some form since I was a kid like you, but was usually just content with anything sharpened. So even if it was a $0.39 job, that was fine with me.

So like Crowemag, if you already have something very sentimental, that may be the way to go. Or, if your Bride-to-be already knows you are a bladehead, you may want to create a new heirloom and buy a his-n-hers set (or matching pair) of something just for the occasion. Maybe a regular sized Trapper (or any other style of choice), and a mini sized one for your, oops, I mean her garter. There are plenty of models that are made in different sizes, or just a mini version of the original.

If money is tight because of the upcoming festivities, you could even go with something cost effective like a Rough Rider reg sized Barlow, and mini Barlow. Even the Stoneworx RR versions are pretty cheap but nice and elaborate looking.

If I would have thought of something like that at the time, I'm sure my Bride would have gone along with it, if for no other reason to make me happy. Boy are those days long gone. :(

Oh, and and big Congrats to you both.

And one more thing, now that you got the first post out of the way, you are obligated to return often and contribute. Even if for nothing more than to show off pics of your favorite blades. !!!

I carried my SAK Adventurer in the pocket of my tuxedo:

The idea was that I wanted to be ready for anything. :D It's also been in my pocket during the birth of all three of our kids.

Congrats on your big day! I wasn't into knives then either. Our Anniversary is in October, it makes me love the fall even more. I agree with KBA on choosing one that means something already. Or, choose one with aesthetically pleasing curves like a woman, perhaps in a cover option close to your wedding colors to tie meaning to it. Above all else, enjoy the day when it comes. It's gonna be great.

Case used to offer a boxed set of pen knives for weddings (might have been Peanuts); one had black Delrin handles and was stamped "GROOM" and the other had white Delrin handles and was stamped "BRIDE" - not sure if they still offer the set or not. I carried a Buck 301 everywhere I went back in those days (38 years ago), so I would have had it on me when we married and honeymooned. Of course we didn't fly anywhere - we drove - but no one cared if you had a pocketknife on a plane back then. In fact it was normal for a man to have a pocketknife on him all the time. OH

Congratulations on your upcoming marriage. Hope you both are very happy. :)

I did purchase a special "marriage knife". Got married three years ago and posted about it on the GEC #76 thread.

You see I had always admired the jack configuration but had never owned one. GEC came out with the #76 just a month or two before my wedding and I couldn't resist. Sharpened it up and waited. The first time I carried it was when I got dressed for my wedding to my beautiful wife. Carried it at the ceremony and then used it to slice up the roast pig at our reception. It was a grand idea and I've not regretted doing it.

That has been 3 years ago in a couple weeks. The knife has been in my pocket more than all the others put together. And 3 years has really aged this knife gracefully. It has been to some amazing places and I may add a post to the #76 thread in a week or two to show you what it now looks like. I've let the patina come naturally and it has paid me back a dozen time in pleasure for the money I invested in buying it.

Best of luck,
Will

Congrats first of all. On my wedding this August I carried my Viper Odino. Not a traditional I know, but it's one of my favorites. I got my 5 groomsmen each a Kershaw dimension and a Nitecore EC21. Some happy campers that day!

I got married to my Lovely sue, one that day when I became the luckiest guy I carried a1960's Red Bone Case Barlow - gifted to me by Charlie- the knife that hails from the same era as myself - just a prized possession ( the knife not Sue :D ).

We had a lovely garden wedding - all of our friends - we arranged it so everyone bought a plate of food, it was low key in our back yard - but we did lots of special things like a big Marque Tent and flowers etc - out friends said it was the most relaxed loving Wedding they had been to!
Here is Sue cutting the Cake with a over 100 year Stag Handled knife that I use almost daily - its a fantastic knife.
The guy to the right of me is my friend for over 35 years Bob - what a lovely guy! He is very much more like a brother and a friend.

That's awesome man. I'm getting married a week after you, and I'm trying to decide the same thing. It looks like I might have to buy a new knife, so I'll be able to start fresh and make some new memories.

I Give knives at weddings. A twin scandi of one kind or another, a "His & Hers" sort of thing.
Dont expect I will be signing the book anytime soon.
If it does come about, it would be one of my 1/2horn Sameknivs. Then again, perhaps make one special for the occasion.

I would suggest something with a corkscrew/bottle opener for the party. I try to carry that at all parties.

I bought 2 new S&M knives.
A red bone scout, and an english jack.
I carried the scout daily for years, until I lost it
at the ballpark cutting oranges for kids and nieces and nephews....
Never replaced it or found it, I keep the other put away.
I will give it to my son when he marries.

Congratulations on the wedding.

I probably carried a knife on my wedding day. After some 33 years I have no recollection of if I did or what it was.

(Just to put things in perspective, 30 years from now you likely won't remember the knife, either, so don't get too hung up on having the perfect one. )
