I picked up a 119 tonight guys, and I must say I love the thing, a good slick package, sharp, awsome cutting edge. We will see how it holds up this weekend along side the Ka-bar, its gonna be fun. :D

Yeah, I wold have takin' some tonight but theres not enough light for a nice pictures.

Fonly, I don't know if you know this or not, but a guy from Kitchener (I think) Ontario used a 119 to kill a black bear that attacked his dog while on a canoe trip up by Wawa. If you're interested in the story, the guy's name is Tom Tilley (I think - damn 61 year old memory  )

There is just something about the way the 119 feels in my hand. Ballance?, weight?, dunno, but I like it. Gave my last one away last winter to a female hunter, but will get another. I just got a 30th aniversary silver/black Kershaw Blur assisted folder. Man do they POP with that assist, can't stop playing with it. :D Good to be back home Fonly? ;)

That was an impressive story, eh? The guy had heard about a black bear attacking someone else (a lady?) who defended themselves with a knife.

So he bought the 119 to take with him on his canoe trip.

Then he meets this black bear that comes at him and his dog. The bear goes for the dog, he slips around and gets on the bears back, stabbing with the knife. The bear eventually goes down.

The guy and the dog get their canoe out on the water, flag down some other folks, and end up in the hospital but okay!

Cheers for the 119, the dog's courage, and the guy's foresight and guts!

I have always liked the 119. Just looking at the design reminds me of being outdoors. I remember my dad always using one when I was a kid. Nice impulse buy :)

Cool!! I don't have any Bucks anymore. When I was a kid I had a bunch. My parents lost my boyhood knife collection during a move after I went to college. I should have taken them with me, but I figured I'd just get in trouble.

I got one of those for Christmas, after lusting after it for about a decade. I must say, I was disappointed. It's a bit duller than most knives out of the box. I haven't even tried it out yet.

Every knife will get dull with use anyway....just sharpen it. If you use a 5 pece Lansky sharpening kit, be carefull, the coarsest stone will eat metal like a shark.

I bought one a few years back, and like you I was impressed,so far it's held up well.Alot of knife for the $

I like my 119. I find it chips relatively easy, but then it is so simple to grind and resharpen that it isn't much of a problem fixing up. In fact, I tend to be a bit abusive with mine because I know I can repair it without much work. I lost the original grind right away as it was the knife I learned to sharpen with and as above I tend to sharpen and re-touch it up a lot.

It is a good cutter but not great at batoning due to the chipping. The only thing that bugs me about the 119 is the top guard. Cliff has a picture of a modified 119 with the top guard removed on his website. I like the looks of that quite a bit better, but don't have the nerve to put a hacksaw to mine.

I've always been impressed with the leather sheaths that come with the traditional bucks. I treat the sheath with some boot logic (MEC) and it keeps up well even after light wetting.

Speaking of killing bears with buck knives, you can't forget the man who killed a grizzly with a buck 110 folder. It was in Outdoor life and I loved the story. The guy was like 60, a carpenter. Cool story. :)

Thats what gets me, they have incredible sheaths, this one, the one my 110 and 192 came with a great. plus Im getting a knife made from our neibours down below which is great for me.

But tomorow we'll see how the 119 and USMC do, mabye Ill get something done tonight, but the Fonly Test will be done tomorow. :D
