I just got home from a week cruise. I had to leave my yellerhandles in the parking garage protecting the car. ;)
Being without a knife is a real challanging experience when you have been so reliant on them for so long. My teeth got a workout all week.

Its not the slip joint that is the problem, its all the joints that the morons in charge have smoked that is the problem. No pocketknife...its a deadly weapon.

I held my yellerhandles all the way back from New Orleans. 6 hours and we are back to normal now. :D

Whew! Glad you got through it.

I hate not having a knife in my pocket.

This sounds like a form of torture:grumpy:
Lucky your teeth survived intact
Glad you are back to your friends:D
Take care

You couldn't even bring on a peanut in your baggage?

WOW!!! Is this a new rule? I went to the Bahamas in 2006, and the cruise line I went on didn't really check. Granted, for safety sake, I only brought my Leatherman P4 keychain multitool, but again, they never checked.
Bummer, dude.

Withdrawal symptoms....how did it go..."just say no".

They'd have had to throw me overboard! I would have been caught breaking a glass and knapping a blade from it.

AFAIK, there are no real laws on the subject and each cruise line has their own rules. I know most cruise lines restrict knives to some extent, but I had not heard of any that forbid knives entirely.

Time to shop for another cruise ship I would think... ;)

Heck, I'd just lie to 'em. It's not like the cruise line can throw you in the slammer like TSA can. Silly corporate rules like this???...ingore 'em....just don't flash your contraband knife on deck. :)

I would just say no to them if they ask about knives, but at the same time bring a couple of box cutters, and keep them with your toothbrush and shaving kit. Cheap and lose-able.

Let's not use this forum for giving advice on how to get around security and let everyone make their own decisions for themselves should they find themselves in similar circumstances.

(We don't have to agree with such policies but we don't need to embroil this website in any potential fallout either. Thanks.)

That's frickin' ridiculous!I can't believe you're not even allowed to carry a little peanut or another <3" knife on a cruise!:thumbdn:

ill never be going on a cruise if thats the case.might as well chop off my arm if i cant have at least one blade on me.

I have to fly a lot for work. I don't like checking my knife one bit.

I don't have to go on a cruise. I am aware of this policy---and I refuse to support it.

(And because I'm aware of the policies of this particular forum--I will not post what I think of the policy of the cruise lines.)

Very well said. (And as to your last point, I think that came across swimmingly. (Couldn't resist the whole cruise metaphor.)

Never been on a cruise but from what I've seen on TV, I think I could get over not having my knife with me for awhile. Seems like theres a lot going on to take my mind off of it.:D

Despite the no knife policy, cruises are spectacular. It's kind of nice not having to worry about your food or much of anything. And really, you're not going to need a knife while on board, anyway.

For the medical assistive appliances I use, I need some kind of a cutting tool such as a box cutter. I believe any kind of anti knife policy is way over the top. It violates my very basic rights, I have not, nor will I ever support any kind of non essential/entertainment business that violates this in any kind of manner.

I also double check travel destinations and weed out the knife unfriendly ones. For this reason we have twice turned down a carrbean cruise in favor of a hotel. From what I understand the hotel is much more comfortable less crowded and likely cheaper too.
