Weekend Deals for 5/9 -- Pix, Purna Hanshee, Foxy Folly and Great Buys

SteveUs, the 13 inch Kumar Karda is long gone. The Hanshee is still avaialble.

I hope Purna Hanshees become a semi-regular thing. I really like Purna's work, and I like the Hanshee.

I'm pretty much sure it is. The pommel flair, small bolster, frog design, chakmak and karda are all twins to a Sgt made Bonecutter I have.

You will like that Samsher. It is one solid piece that feels right.

Just got back to my computer. I got the 13" 13 oz Kumar Karda by Dil Kami. Can't say no to a chandan handle.

Great knife david99! Love that carving:thumbup: I am going to be on the lookout for one of those.

Thanks Conan11 - had just commented a week or two back about the full size crow knife having too big a handle for me and would really like a 12 inch baby crow - couldn't believe it when i saw it the other day! The chandan handle just make the deal all the more sweet!
And the 2 Sirupatis was a bad case of the HI Virus running amok - I mean, what better that 2 wood handle 15 inch Sirupatis on either hands to keep the zombies and demons away while feverishly chanting the Kami names!
I got that idea from swinging my first horn handle 15 inch Purna chainpura before going to sleep the the night before, and lo and behold - they were there the next morning on offer :)

The baby kobra seemed like a good idea to pair up with my other wood handle one - for when I'm 90 and can't swing the Sirupatis any more!

I have to try that! I will swirl a Purna over my head and wish for a pair of Hansee's.:) Of course I had better wait until I actually have the money.

I just unpacked the "13 inch 13 ounce Kumar Karda by Kumar's brother Dil" with "carved Chandan wood handle."

It's quite a hefty knife, with the spine thickness a little over 1/4" at the bolster, tapering slightly to a little under 1/4" near the tip. It's about the same weight as my bowie knife, and only an inch shorter in the blade.

To my pleasant surprise, it has Bura's kami mark: the crescent moon symbol next to the sun symbol. I wondered how a Bura blade could be posted as a Dil blade, so I compared both the kami mark and the devangari initials with one of the online files that show kami marks. First thing I saw is that the several versions of Dil's kami mark (the lotus flower) bore no resembance to Bura's crescent moon. However, the devangari initials on the blade are Dil's, quite distinct from Bura's devangari initials.

So maybe the knife was a collaboration of the two. In any case, it's a beautiful blade, very robust and the carved handle is grippy and fits my hand perfectly. Also, the sheath is made from the very thick leather that we don't see much of these days.
