so today my buddy Stephen and i got together and did a little hiking. It turns out we didnt go all that far, probably just a couple miles, but we havent done any hiking in years so it was a good start.

not much in the way of action pics, but i took some pics to share with the group. So i hope you enjoy

and here is a little tortoise we found, he was cool, but i think he thought i was going to eat him as much hissing at me he did, no worries though, after the pic we let him go :D

and a few comparison pics between my bk2 and his rat5. We found an old boy scout camping area so we decided to try and light a fire. Its actually been raining alot lately and everything was WET. We did actually get a fire started we just couldnt keep it going for nothing..

yeah we had a blast, cant wait to do it again
it was hot, but nearly as hot as it has been, if these keeps up i might make this a weekly habit...we will see
 
How far do you have to drive to get to the woods?
 
actually i dont think i was ever more than 5 miles from my house, i just never noticed there was this big camping area so close to home
so....5 miles in any direction gets me out of the city and into some sort of wilderness
 
I wish I could go 5 miles any direction to hit the woods. I'd be there all the time if I could.
 
Well, I can drive a little less than an hour to get to some small plots of woods, but they're private property though. Have to drive to southern Illinois to hit some nice woods. Shawnee National Forest is down there.
 
I'm surrounded with moutains and woods, 1 mile from my house and I'm in heaven.....

Almost every other day or so I'm in the Mountains livin it up

my bad, my goal was to get the knives in the pic
i wasnt even paying attention to what was going on in the background

if i warn you next time do you have a special pair of shorts to wear? just for flexxx?

tortoise with a bk2, i thinking this is a bad situation just waiting to happen ;)

and i just finished reassembling my BOB (washed clothes/bandanas/cleaned and stropped all knives etc etc)
also learned that untreated cotton balls just wouldnt cut it, so they have been treated with vaseline.... so now we can try again to start fires in damp/wet conditions
