Weekend Project Balance Khukuri

I think, by "PCB", he means "Printed Circuit Board," and not "Polychlorinated biphenyl" or something like that, for what it's worth.

Interesting, to me, how that balance model is very nearly the mirror image of the WWII. I would have expected the curve to be a lot different.

Well it's getting to be spring. Time to start thinking about cleaning up the yard. A good day to get rid of some unwanted old trees.

Cut this guy down and reduced it to 2 foot sections. She hits like a freight train. 8 ounces heavier than my WW2 which makes quite a difference. No need to swing hard, just let her fall and give a little snap at the end.

The best thing is that I haven't even sharpened it yet. The tip was bent over on arrival. I filed it off and went to work.

Nice looking Balance and good pictures. Looks like balances have chanced a little since they first came out.

You could also experiment with just vinegar, rubbing on mustard, or slicing citrus fruits if you can't find the ferric chloride. You can get some very interesting patterns with mustard if you don't apply it evenly - the effect is good or bad depending on your application and personal taste.

Edits - very pretty blade, and quite a bargain. I think the smaller balance models have less resemblance to the WWII, but this one is definitely a close cousin. Maybe the "balance" designation is more about the feel than the actual blade shape?
