Hi brothers, can you help me with difficult choice between Wegner Professional Hunter Extreme and Heckler and Koch AXIS tactical folder.
Both of them have similar price and I like both. Unfortunatelly have to choose one. Thanks.
The Wegner is a liner-lock, so right off the bat some will dislike it (not too hip on the lock myself, but as the knife is a high quality piece, I won't negate it out of hand). S30V steel blade with a good, practical EDC grind. It uses a hole to open (a difference; I like them as long as they are big enough, which this one does). Nice pictures at www.defensereview.com/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=739.
Not sure which H&K you're looking at, but I'll assume it's the 14200. Big plus is the AXIS lock as most people like it and it's reliable. 154CM steel is a good steel from Benchmade. Not too enthused with the handle composition on this piece, but I'd want to handle one again. Blade profile is OK by me, just not as nice as the Wegner for EDC use IMO. Thumbstud opening on this size blade works well for me.
You looking at two good knives, so I'd recommend if at all possible that you get some in-hand time. Which one felt better to my hand would sway me. But then again, if I was biasing my decision on steel, I'd go S30V.
If you talking about a Wenger compared to an Emerson like a CQC-7, I would go with the CQC-7 because I am partial to the wave, but others may go with the Wenger due to favoring the lock.
Right, the CQC-8 IS waved. For some reason, everytime someone mentions the CQC-8, I think of one of Emerson's older models before waves.
Back to the topic, if I would recommend CQC-10
