anyone here know anything about this knife? iw as looking at the smaller version but i cannot find it anywhere and if want to get it i have to order it. i have an afck and am looking for something somewhat equivalent. anyone know anything about this model and if its worth anything?

The smaller one = wenger jr is my favourite Wenger. Many love the ergonomics on the big one but I have never liked curved handles wery much. Smaller on the other hand suits my hand nicely. It is the sturdiest little liner lock that I'm aware of. All corners are nicely rounded etc. I've never heard anyone to complain about Wenger jr. That is quite rare in this community. If you can find - get one.

Some dealer announced that he had still some jrs left for less than 80$ 72$? (forgive me if my memory isn't quite right). Look for dealers for sell forum (last week?) (less than 20 anyhow)

The Wegner and Wegner, Jr are both awesome knives. I just received my Weg Jr. from Jamie at J & M Knife Works, they were the ones advertising. Great knife, great deal, great service. He has a clickable link to his website in his ad.

The Wegner is a better knife than the AFCK. It is one of my favorite production knives. The smaller one has been discontinued, but they are still available.

Welcome to BFC Handbones!

This is sort of an amusing question. The Spyderco Wegner is one of the most popular knives around here. It is a great field use utility and skinning knife. Spyderco has discontinued the small version. This was a highly unpopular decision. Some dealers may still have the smaller version, especially Blade-Tech, Tim Wegner's own site.

The larger size is very popular with hunters. Read the endorsements from the Alaskan Dept of Fish and Game at Blade-tech. If you are not hunting, and are looking for an AFCK type knife for daily carry, consider the Spyderco Military and Starmate as well as the Wegner. I'm sure others can give you many other suggestions for similar knives.

The Wegner has been my daily carry for over 2 years- no complaints whatsoever. It's long been a favorite here- for good reason.

Excellent choice in the Spyder family. I love my Spyderco Police, but it has been retired to the safe, and the Wegner is now active. I think you will enjoy carrying, and using this knife.

thats a popular knife here? cool... i just joined this forum yesterday so i wasnt aware. it does sound pretty sweet tho... one question though.... one nice thing about a knife in my opinion is a thmb ramp that isnt so tall that it gets in the way if you have to grip the blade so you can have real presice tip control for carving. spydercos stuff ive seen sometimes has a thumb ramp that is way too tall because of their opening hole. how is the thumb ramp on the wenger? does it get in the way at all?

I love my Wegner Jr. The only gripe I have is that mine is partially serrated, and I would prefer the plain edge, but other than that it's just about perfect. What's most surprising is that I usually prefer "big" knives.
I'm on the lookout for a large & small Wegner in plain edge, at a good price.

The wegner doesn't have the typical Spyderco hump. As a matter of fact the hump on the Wegner was designed with control in mind.
