Weird buying habit, gotta get 2 of everything.

I had it worse! :D I used to operate on the "pair & a spare" theory with things that were really important to me. Now "things" don't seem quite so important. Someone once said, "If you ever find something that you really like, you better buy a lifetime supply because they will soon quit making it." There is an element of truth in that ... so long as the OCD demons don't take possession of you.

I had this problem buying s/n art prints. I'd buy one for the investment and one to frame. Sure got expensive when I was buying 8-12 prints per year (2x).

This is getting to be my way of thinking regarding some traditional slippies that I'm developing an interest in. If I like a knife, I'm not going to buy it and not use it. If I buy two however I can keep one as an investment. Problem is I pay twice as much for a knife, at least that is one way of looking at it.

I frequently purchase three examples of folders I like (funny... I don't seem to do that for fixed blade knives). When I see a folder that looks interesting, I'll purchase it. If, after receiving it, I find I like it; I'll purchase two more. One of the additional two I give to my twin brother, and the other I save for the future.

I don't have a wife, so I have to spend my money on guns and knives.

It's easy to see why folks buy several of the same knives. You can buy one to carry and use, buy one because it may become a rare/sought after knife one day, if so you may want to sell it for a profit and still have one for yourself... so you might want to buy 3... You might have a fear of losing your knives like me (although i've only lost one) so go ahead and get 4 just to be safe, hell, they may be discontinued soon... grab up one more.

If you have the money, go for it. :)

One is none and two is one. Now where I have I heard that before...hmmm.

Backup, replacement, spare parts...you name it there's a valid reason for buying 2 instead of 1.

The only model that I have ever purchased two of is my Spyderco Perrin Street Bowie. I have one that I use for basic cutting tasks, and one that I've never used but occasionally carry for SD. I'd probably pick up a 3rd if I could find a good deal on one! I'll probably pick up another waved Endura though.

Forget the "twosies"!! If you're really serious you get THREE of everything. One save, one to use, and one in case one of the first two gets lost, broken, stolen, etc. etc. etc. You can never be too careful!!:)

It's a sickness, I do that with CRK. I have so many identical sebbies it makes me sick. I also have trios of most of my favorite frn spydies.

I've discovered the beauty of knives only a month ago and this idea of owning two Buck 110's has already hit me. I thought of buying a Cabela's Alaskan Guide Series 110 to admire and fondle and then use the regular 110 as an EDC. But then I think, well maybe I should be using the Alaskan as the EDC since it has the better blade and then fondle the regular 110. Surely there must be a name for this disease that plays with your mind so.

I recently started buying production Emersons when i have the funds and can find a good deal and having settled on a CQC-7 A for daily carry I want to get a spare to keep boxed in the "collection". I can't really afford multiples but when I find something I like to carry I try to find a back-up I can keep in un-used condition.

Nothin' wrong with having two of stuff. Heck, I've often really wished I had a second version of something when I lost the first version.

That said, y'all might want to get into some therapy for that, particularly you, Burf151... that's obsessive-compulsive disorder starting to rear it's head there. ;) wink, as in, slap yer back, just kiddin'.

I buy several of the same knife if I like it.....it is a sickness....I sometimes buy them by the dozen when I can get them wholesale and sell a few to my friends.....

lol I do the same darn thing! :p

I got my Super CQC-7 last week, next Wednesday my regular sized CQC-7B should be here...

Ummmm...in order to truly suffer from this problem, you will need TWO of each of those models, not one of each. Having one of the large and one of the small does not count.;)

Cheers,
Jon

I really don't see this as an issue at all. The original poster is most likely buying just as many knives as he would buy if he didn't have to buy 2 at a time. He'd just be buying new models twice as fast as he is right now.
