Does anybody have any real world pictures of the damasteel Vision R?

This knife has been out long enough now for some reviews to come in, and seeing folks talk about the clip in detail was what I needed before I was ready to pick one up. :) I'd like to add to that body of impressions by sharing some photos I couldn't find when I was considering the WE Snecx Vision R: how the pocket clip works in jeans.

Here it is in the pocket of my least broken-in pair of straight-leg, plain ol' Old Navy jeans, clip to the rear.

Although it will probably be lovely in shorts, I'm in jeans 8 months a year. I don't love this configuration in jeans. The detent, while not strong, is strong enough that I'd probably feel comfortable pocketing it like this (tip-up, blade facing inwards).

Here's the Vision R with the spine of the blade facing the seam of my pocket.

This clip works fine in jeans. :) Is it less intuitive to pull out and put away? Yep, but not irritatingly so. After maybe 5 times in and out of my pocket during the day, I hardly had to think about it.

Exactly once during the day, while I was moving around, it "rolled" 90 degrees in my pocket so the spine of the blade was perpendicular to my pocket edge. Quick adjustment, problem solved. As a point of comparison, the flashlight I usually carry clipped to the other front pocket rolls in just the same way at least a few times during the average day.

When I got into my truck, I got to see the clip doing what it was designed to do: completely hiding from the evil seatbelt. ;) It would be difficult to accidentally snag this clip.

Thanks for the thoughts on the pocket clip. I love that knife, I haven't owned one but that design is just awesome. How does the clip feel against your palm when your using the knife?

It feels fine. :) I've only had it for a day, so my impression could change -- but if it were a dealbreaker, I'd already know.

I don't think I'd want to spend hours breaking down boxes with it, but even bearing down on it in hammer grip I can find a comfy spot where the clip disappears.

In saber or Filipino grips, the two I tend to use most often, I don't notice it anymore than I notice most clips -- but I do notice it in a different spot (duh). Having no clip the non-show side still breaks my brain a little bit every time I pick it up. 😆

That's good to hear, I was just a little bit worried about that. Yea I bet it would be a little strange at first, but I guess not having a clip on the "lock-side" (even though it's not a framelock haha) opens up the possibilities on designing and customizations which is cool. I really like both this design and the other SNECX WE design, they both really stand out from a lot of what's out there without getting into the funky territory.

You actually just taught me the Filipino grip. I never knew there was a name for that grip, but it sure is handy when you really need to get some force in there while you're cutting.

Yeah! I like speed holes, but they almost always conflict with a pocket clip -- either by being partially obscured, or by having more holes on the show side than the lock side. One neat thing about the Vision R is that the three main holes are all pass-through when the knife is open.

Yea that is cool, and pretty rare, having symmetrical speed holes on a titanium knife like that.

Back in stock now!
If you haven't got one yet,go and grab yours!

I have the blue Ti version and I love it - But $679 on sale ($799 MSRP) for the Damascus blade version on BladeHQ?

Um, nope, sorry. However, I'd have bought it right now for $400 in Damascus and blue Ti...

I'm happy with the functional 9Cr/10Cr Damascus in a $100 Civivi. Whatever is in this blend, the price tag forces me think about the curve of diminishing returns. It also opens the door to some stiff competition, like more affordable Damascus options with good heat treatments from Cheburkov.

The damascus used is Damasteel which is made from stainless RWL34 and PMC27, so yeah not the same league as chinese damascus.
That explains a lot. That fact is not listed in the specs on BladeHQ, so we assumed it was the cheaper version of Damascus Steel, not Damasteel (TM).

I have a Damasteel Beacon. I HAD to have it to complete my Beacon collection. It is cool. I’m not sure if it is the $550 cool I paid however. I could’ve bought 2 more Beacons instead of 1. I didn’t much have a choice in the matter. An itch I had to scratch.
