This can be the "XM18 Lottery" Chat thread. I talked to my buddy Rob today, I said "Jeez all you gotta do is show up with an XM18 Lottery and it's like the pied piper!!..... Thank You Rick and Rob! Many (All) enjoy the Fun and the opportunity. Good Stuff!
BF is good Fun and I think some (Hopefully many) will say we have some fun here on the Hinderer Forum. Good Folks that share a common bond and it goes from there, Friendships have been forged (I know I have benefited from and am thankful for those) a cathartic (nice word huh?) vehicle like an "XM Lottery" just moves that chain forward and for that again, Thank you for thinking of it R&R (Rick and Rob)
So, Have a Blast! Please... those who showed up - Come back if you like it there is more fun and comradery that happens.

Unfortunately couldn't make it to the Plaza show this past weekend, so it's really nice of R&R to have this lottery. It really helps those who don't have the opportunity that others get.

It's amazing to see how many people have jumped in for it. Hopefully they all know it's a chance to purchase and not a straight up giveaway. I remember last year at the show, i was completely new to the idea and didn't understand at first.

Maybe we'll get some new interesting ideas for threads and some great pictures as well.
 
I really appreciate Rick, Rob and the crew. They were gracious enough to get an XM-18 over to me in Iraq (via my wife) last year while I was stationed there. Unfortunately, it was stolen about 6 weeks ago out of my truck :( Rob said i can purchase another during their next run, but the one that was stolen really hurt!

I wonder if the brown dlc will have matching standoffs, or are they just stainless steel :confused: I'm used to always seeing a black dlc, are there other colors besides black and flat dark earth?
 
I see new accounts have been created with the first and only post in the lotto, only activity = lotto

Almost a third of the entries are from members who have less than 5 posts.....not much of a contribution to the forum at all....

Its not for me to say how R&R should run a lotto but its clearly being abused and being bombarded by individuals who are here for only one purpose and contribute nothing at all to the forum.

Standoffs will most likely be stainless.

DLCs so far stick very close to the two color schemes you mentioned. But what do I know, I've been wrong before.
 
Then again, the recent/infrequent members are probably unaware that this is a lottery to purchase and not a giveaway. Seeing some of them saying "thanks for the giveaway", i'm sure they just saw the title and jumped in, without really reading.

Friday can't come soon enough. :D
 
I wonder what an all FDE DLC XM w/ Black DLC Slicer Flipper blade would look like on a 3.5 fatty or 24. With plain Ti standoffs and a black or FDE DLC lanyard bead.

In my minds eye it sounds very sexy.

that's just ridiculous.......it should have a black dlc lanyard bead :p

Now i really want a black dlc ti bead................
 
I have a strong feeling that many people have not read the post in its entirety. I would be willing to wager that 10-15% of the people think it is a giveaway and not a raffle for purchase.

I also agree that you should have to have a certain amount of time in the forums or something equivalent. I have only been present in the forum for a little over 1/2 year but I am browsing everyday.

Guess we will see tomorrow who the lucky winners are!
 
I believe you guys are overestimating the number who think it is a giveaway, most all know it is to purchase, even most noobs, know it is a chance to own the knife and/or profit from it.

I'll be a dissenting opinion, although I can appreciate some of the views expressed and have a tendency to want to feel the same way, the lotto thread is an open for all registered members to enter...new, lurkers, occasional contributors or frequent flyers. All are apparently welcome, have at it and I hope whoever wins enjoys their new knife. I see the knife show lottos similarly despite the potential for shenanigans with those as well.

I still hope I win the "giveaway" though.... ;)
 
I concur with RDA. Until I became a Hinderer owner I had no contributions to this forum. I did use it to educate myself and learn about the knives before my purchase, but it wasn't until I had one coming in the mail that I started posting on this forum. So, while I understand that it would be great for one of the dedicated Hinderer lovers to win, and not some schmuck who wants to win so he/she can turn around and sell it on Ebay the next day for 2x the price, perhaps the winner will be a someone who has wanted one for a long time and in getting on will become an avid member of this forum.... like me!;)

Its not about being a hinderer owner or even a contributor to the hinderer forum, these new members have not contributed to the Blade forum at all and I suspect some are multiple accounts.

You, Maprik are a valued comrade and I miss Hit Girl.

a lot of them either just signed up(double account?) or have not participated in the forum in general
