Welcome to NAME THAT KNIFE contest!!!!!!

OregonEdge, are you just going to do weekly giveaways or something? How many have you done so far?

Our first knife today is a factory model, not Kershaw. It is out of production as far as I know, and quite collectible. It was offered in a number of variations and was a custom maker collaboration. I haven't had one for awhile, but whenever I'd put one on eBay, it would sell immediately.

2 points for Factory, Model, and Designer.

1 Point for whomever is closest after 10pm PST tonight
(but I bet someone nails it well before that)

Good luck!

Time for me to sit back and watch the experts at work and maybe learn a little something...

Good luck all!

If I knew anything about knives, it seems like that thumbstud would make it easy to figure out what it is.

I know someone can get this... I didn't want to make it too hard, or too too difficult. But you kind of have to be aware of some of the major factories, and collaborations. I promise to make some easier and some harder. Just didn't want the first to be a slam dunk

Hmmm... I haven't ever seen that knife... It's not a Twitch, because the thumbstud is a slightly different style... and the spiralled pivot pin is sunken in a little too deep for a Twitch. This is a great game, it gets you thinking.

My guess is the SOG Twitch 2.

My initial thoughts were some sort of SOG, too, until I re-read his description and noticed this: "was a custom maker collaboration". I'm not familiar with any collaboration done by SOG...

The knife in question is a Microtech Lightfoot Compact Combat (LCC). It was designed by Greg Lightfoot. It was offered in D/A and manual action and I really wish I had one!

Yep, available in a number of handles and 2 different blade steels AND both a manual and D/A auto. If you find one of the D/A's they can snag $500 easy. This was always a favorite of mine. Microtech and Lightfoot had a falling out after this model, and they created a similar model called the MTX2 which was very close. (BUT no Lightfoot name). The D/A operated as a manual folder, with a scale release to fire the auto leaf spring. I have seen these with both plain and serrated, coated and uncoated, 154cm & s30V, serrated & unserrated, and both titanium and aluminum bolsters. Also, carbon fiber and micarta scales.

Good Job! That was kinda tough.

Point totals will be found in Post #1

TOMORROW'S PICTURE STARTS AT 9AM!!!!!!
