Took the RC-5 out for a little break in session yesterday.

I know that when I was considering moving to Texas, I had a totally skewed view of what I was getting myself into. Most people think of wide open fields and tumbleweeds but the reality of the gulf coast is a bit different.

This area is THICK, very thick.

Alot of areas are impenetrable without a decent machete, long sleeves, heavy pants and boots.

Here's the 5 in it's native environ.

Not exactly a machete, but it did get me through some thicker areas with a bit of work.

I made my way to a drainage area owned by Compaq computers. Their corporate headquarters is about a mile from my house and this area is about a mile from that, not really sure why they own it but as long as it's open area I'll take advantage.

I walked out into the mud field to check out what tracks I could find and to look for some wildlife.

Hogs, deer, raccoon and snake tracks were the order of the day.

Had a nice hike, fresh air, humidity and wildlife.....perfect!

Texas has almost every environment within its borders. Just not any large mountains. It's a great place to practice a variety of survival skills.

Thanks, good to see you around.

Yep. I've been missing for a minute. Bout to be missing again. The wife and I are having a lot of family visits and stuff these past two weeks, this coming week, and then we're going on the cruise. I love both our families, but man am I tired of people being at my house.:(

Yea, I'm the same way. Just can't relax with people in the house.

Nice pics. That looks like thick country. Perfect for a leveraction.

Yup, got rid of my Rem 700 after my first time hunting here and picked up a Marlin 336 30-30.

Looking to trade up to a .45-70 guide gun when cash allows. I'll never go back to fighting with a right handed bolt action again.

Nice pics. I hate in when there is always people at my house. I am always annoyed because they always want to talk to me when I don't want to talk to them.

that place looks like it can get pretty hot. are there any cooler places in texas?

Dude, my Marlin 336 is my all time favorite deer gun. I have had bolt actions and pumps in faster calibers, but you just can't beat the whole 30-30.
