Welcome to the Jungle!!

Texas has almost every environment within its borders. Just not any large mountains. It's a great place to practice a variety of survival skills.

Texas was traditionally a grassland. Years of controlling grass fires and bison grazing and dropping off seeds that were transferred on their hide led us to the environment we have today. One of the most interesting areas, IMO, is central Texas. The Balconian Biotic Province has elements of all 7 of the Texas Biotic Provinces within its "borders" For those who want an enviro sci lesson; the others are the Astroriparian (Deep East Texas) the Texan (Middle East) Tamaulipan (South Texas) Chihuahuan (West Texas) Navahonian (Small area of West Texas) and the Kansan (North Texas). I can now go on for hours about the different provinces, especially Balconian, but will resist for now.

I just thought I would share this utterly useless information with you. Maybe you'll be able to go on Jeopardy one day and win big. :D

that place looks like it can get pretty hot. are there any cooler places in texas?

Yea...inside. Texas heat isn't that bad for the Natives. The yankees and other foreigners tend to find it a little difficult to cope at times.

oh, and shotgunner, a .30-.30 has made short work of more than half of the deer I have bagged in my lifetime as well as all but a small number of the hogs. It is a great gun to have out down here. The only place I will carry a .30-06 is out in Rocksprings or somewhere else west of San Antonio where I have the chance of needing a longer shot.
