 Hi everybody, I'm THECOLLECTER. I'm a forum virgin ,and trying to get my head round the site. So please bare with me. Also I'm not to hot on the old keyboard. After a look through some of the great messages. I must say uncle bill certainly has a very close and passionate family on all things knives and more. I hope I can do you all and uncle justice. I'm a big collecter of knives and bayonets, also a few japanese swords. But what I really wanted is a REAL Khukuri not the cheapy ones you see. Thats why I searched and found Himalayan Imports. Am I glad about that, the trouble is now. There are so many fantastic ones, it's going to be very hard to choose which ones to buy. Anyway, Thankyou all. I will certainly be looking in more often.

Welcome, Collecter:)

You're right. You have stumbled upon THE outlet for the finest first rate khuks in all the world. Stick around, keep reading up, and feel free to ask any questions you might have about khuks. The info here, as well as kindness in turn, is mind-boggling:eek:

Once again,
welcome:)

Jake

Welcome Thecollector. Living in the UK you have access to some fine antique khukuris. I see many on Ebay, and some of our UK members have found nice ones in "boot sales" (I think that's the term) and flea markets.

Welcome The...

I was originally trained as a toolmaker myself...then spent time in the military, as a teacher and now contract witht he government.

You'll like it here...a lot of very knowledgable folks call this home.

not to mention a gaggle of loons, and those persons the Government wishes it could put a contract on.....

wow. Thankyou, thankyou, thankyou all. What a fantastic welcome. Well, if I'm gonna be skint and maybe slightly mad. I could'nt think of nicer bunch of people to be with. And just maybe, be the proud owner of a few Khukuris on the way.I think I've found a second home. I'm going to have to study you lot more. Thecollecter(Lez)

Welcome to the forums and knock yourself out. BTW, when you get ready to study Bruce, you may want to consider a well pressurized environmental suit.

Thecollector welome to the forum.

So lad, what kind of khukuri makes your pulse speed up? The various more weapon-oriented varieties? The more tool end of the spectrum? Ones sized to feel more like a big knife, or more like a short sword?

Me, I'm a tool guy. But I still want a beautifully fullered 22 inch chitlangi, just because...

...because when you've chopped a bramble with a Chitlangi, it's as if it were executed by the King's own hand.

Welcome aboard. Getting started in khukuri collecting/accumulation? There are four standard approaches;
- Start small and work big
- Start big and work small
- Split the difference with something like a 15" Ang Khola, then decide which way to go from there
- Just snag, at random, whatever you like the looks of

See, it ain't complicated. Just one? Fat chance. :D

Keep an eye out for the daily (figuratively speaking) specials. There are some very good deals and often unique non- catalogue items, but they go fast. What time is it in England when it's 2:30 PM in Reno, Nevada? You may need to arrange your work schedule differently.:D

Hi Thecollector - I'm pretty new too, although I've certainly been bitten bad by the bug. There are so many khuks (and swords and other assorted knives) by HI that are just soooo sweet - can't wait to get my hands on them. Looking forward to seeing you in the shark tank (aka DOTD aka Yangdu's Deal's of the Day). :D
