With only about a buck difference between the two, and needing another pair of regular work gloves...the choice is pretty clear to me. Spend the other buck. -Matt-

thats what i planned on. i was just seeing what yall thought. but im also wondering if they will keep my hands insulated from the heat of the metal. or how well i should say.

I think they'll do just fine for ya. I've forged with a lot less on my hands than that and been just fine. Just be careful! -Matt-

I find the welding gloves a little bulky to use myself. I like to use the fleece lined split cowhide gloves for forge welding gloves. They can be had at Northern tools for about $5.00. They allow you to bend your fingers so you can hang onto a hammer or pick up a pair of tongs if you drop them.

welding glovescan be found here as well as every other safety need.I get my work gloves from this place.I dont wear gloves in my shop, unless I'm heat treating.I got some rough hands :(

sweet. thanks. i might have to get them after the northern tool brand wears out. since im going to be in san antonio tomorrow and monday ill get them from northern tools.

I like my welding gloves but when they finally do get hot they are HOT, Stay HOT and are hard to get off quickly. In my very limited experience the cotton leather combo's work better for me.

I usualy wear a glove on my tong hand, and not my hammer hand, unless i'm doing scroll work and need to get really close to the metal with a pair of pliers.

You must not be using normal welder's gloves, or using wrong sized ones Tommegow.
Welder's gloves are good over normal leather work gloves because if you pick up something hot, you can shake your hand and get the gloves off fast.
