The following is from Kershaw's Facebook page and it brought a smile to my face as soon as I read it.

Dear Kershaw,

My name is Xxxxxxxxxxx (name removed for privacy) and I am a Boston Police Officer. I was at the finish line during the first bomb explosion at the Boston Marathon on April 15, 2013.

I am writing to let you know that on that day I carried your Kershaw 1630BLKST knife (As seen in my left front pocket in the attached photo.) That knife was instrumental in aiding some of the injured victims. Many people were yelling if any one had a knife. I passed mine around. Clothing had to be cut away and those pieces of cloth were then used as tourniquets. The quickness in a one-hand opening and the sharpness / durability of the blade made it a valuable tool.

Unfortunately my knife was lost at the scene. I am having a hard time in finding a 1630BLKST replacement. Can you assist me in locating another one? After proving its value, I do not want any other knife by any other company.

-Kershaw Team note: We're helping this officer out with a new knife; its incredible to realize that there are men out there like this..Well done, Boston Police Dept!

Before I go any further, I want to express my condolences for all those involved with the bombing as this will be a long road for them to recover to the point of being able to live a relatively normal life. That being said, well done Kershaw. It's nice to see a company that goes above and beyond what would be considered 'the norm of customer service'. To hear of this being done for this unnamed LEO brought a smile to my face as soon as I read it. This has been and continues to be a trying time for our nation and hear of acts like this restores just a little hope in humanity in general. To know that there are companies out there that think this highly of our law enforcement and military personal that are putting their lives on the line and not expecting any form of thanks for 'just doing their job' makes me smile. I just wanted to say well done Kershaw as well as to extend a well deserved thank you to all of our law enforcement and military personal that were involved with helping everyone involved with the tragedy in Boston as well as those that were not.

Kudos to Kershaw and all the agencies that assisted on the east coast. I always have my Shallot and Cyclone with me while I'm on duty.

I have never even seen a 1630BLKST

A discontinued model?

On edit: I happened to be in Boston about three or four weeks ago for another event. There we numerous Boston city police details and most of them were motorcycle mounted. Out in front of city hall where there was substantial group congregated there were three or four motorcycle officers directing traffic. I couldn't help but notice that most of them had a fairly sizable looking knife clipped to the inside of their riding boots.

If only I had a black cyclone!

I want to echo the many thanks and props to all the Leo, Mil, and fellow Firefighters that were on and off duty that unfortunate day. It shows the kind of people we are when we run towards the danger, not from it. Those above and all the civ's that helped that day.

Somebody get this man a cyclone already!

If you look at the comment, you'll see multiple people willing to give it to him, but Kershaw said "we got him covered" (paraphrased)

I think it would be awesome if Kershaw did a special run of Cyclones (1630) in memoriam of the tragedy with the profits going to a Boston charity.

A ZT0350ST would be a great second choice if KAI can't come up with an actual 1630BLKST.

Can't wait to see what the outcome of this is.

I wouldn't be surprised if they did, considering their response so far. What a great gesture by taking care of this officer! Kudos Kershaw!

Agreed. Perhaps the time is coming to see another run of the Cyclones. At least I'd be able to nab some extra spare torsion bars for my stock.

Ti and S110V CB...I'm down for 6 or 8 of em.
