Well Done Kershaw

I was able to place an order with an outfit here in CA for a Kershaw 1630TBLKST Cyclone Tanto Knife. Hopefully, they can fulfill the order. I know what it means to have an attachment for a favorite serrated blade. The officer deserves a replacement in kind. Just hoping the order gets fulfilled and then I'll send it to Kershaw to forward it to the officer. If he ends up with two so much the better.

For an update on this.... I had the opportunity to talk to this officer on the phone yesterday. He was very humbled and wanted to make it clear that he wasn't contacting us for a hand-out, only some help finding a replacement. He thanked us and gave us permission to share his story, omitting his name. I can't imagine what the officers that day saw or how much they helped, and I am proud to have been able to give something back to one of them - even if it's something as "small" as a new knife. From Kershaw - and myself personally - thanks to everyone who was there and helped out with the injuries.

And... he has a 1670GBBLKST on its way to him. Wish we had a cyclone we could send him, but I think he'll be happy with this one. :)

Very nice and thoughtful Lynda.

Officers love black serrated edges and glass breakers.

Very cool! Thanks to you Lynda and KAI for making the effort to reach out to this gentleman and providing him with a replacement (even though its not exactly the same).

A good end to a great story.

Lynda, if you will contact me via PM or email, I have a BNIB Cyclone I will send this man. It isn't serrated, but I would imaging sending it to you first could get him some cuts in the blade...

:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup: people like you make this community function. Hats off to you good sir!

Awesome story. Always great to see these everyday carry items really make a difference rather than just be a convenience.

Agreed. Perhaps the time is coming to see another run of the Cyclones. At least I'd be able to nab some extra spare torsion bars for my stock.

Ti and S110V CB...I'm down for 6 or 8 of em.

I like the sound of that! The Mini TiZDP Cyclone is one I've been hunting for a while. They're not cheap. Seems to me that every single Ti frame lock from Kershaw has been a home run and the collectors price is at least double what retail was.

I would be willing to contribute to a fund to supply ALL of the Boston PD officers with a new 1670GBBLKST. Maybe we could raise enough to cover the wholesale cost. Maybe a special blade etch for the men and women of the BPD? Would KAI be interested in something like that?

I'm on board with the idea of Kershaw doing a special run of Cyclones with an extra $20-$30 tacked on to the price to go towards supplying the Boston cops with knives, as well as putting money in a fund for the victims.

If Kershaw offerred pre-orders for 1000-2000 Titanium Frame & Elmax or M390 or S110v, even s30v, Regular or Composite Bladed Cyclones they would sell out in a matter of minutes. Even if they just offered them on this forum and other knife forums ( Jerzee Devil, USN, EDC, KnifeForums ), I would think they would sell out in a matter of days. I sure many of us would even volunteer to help out in any way we could.

I know I would buy 2 or 3.

$30 x 2000 = $60,000 I would think that would be a nice donation for those fine officers and the victims of this tragic event.
