Well, Of one nights delibiration, and searching it up here on bladeforums, Ive come home today with a Kershaw Storm.
Now, I never thought I would buy a kershaw, but with a $$ tag of 38 bucks, and all they great things I heard, I figured why not.

So here it is, The kershaw storm with my wave :)

The thing came hair popping sharp, and Its blade is made from 13c26 scandi steel. The only thing that I mildly don't like, is its a bit tough to open. There is an assited opening flick on the back, but that opens it and 1/3 of the way, then you finish it off with you thumb. I bought it for a Little pocket knife, and it carries very well, nice, light and slim.

So tell me what yo guys think of it, Ill be happy and anwsure any questions. And if your wondering, I'd of felt bad If I didnt show you WS guys first :D

Very nice. It looks like you got a solid deal, too. I like the slim profile of the handle. What does the clip look like? Is it more or less a standard clip, or one that allows a deeper carry? What steel is the blade made out of? And finally, where'd you find it?

I have two Kershaw items, and they are both well-built. One is a Double-Cross 4380. The fit and finish is excellent. It's a fine piece.

Congrats on your find!

well here are some quick pics of the Clip, and the blade is 13c26 scandi steel. And after Finally getting some help at wallyworld, thats where i got it :D

Sorry for the bad pics this time, but its hard taking pictures in that position ;)

I'm not that big of a Kershaw person myself, but I did get one of those as well. Wal-mart, right?:) Pretty hard to go wrong at that price, even though it's for a righty.... I haven't used mine all that much, but so far, so good. One of the locals here also had an over run for Snap-on tools on the Splinter for I think, $70 CDN. Considering what they sell for regularly, that was also a great buy.

Looks pretty good. I have my first "real" folder on the way, ordered from edcforums. a buck strider 882 Tarani.

Up til now my only experience with folders was saks and such, and an opinel #8, but this fella cought my eye and cold make a good edc knife, along with a sak of course.

Ohhh, I know, that Has been a knife I've been looking at for awhile now. I just haven;t got around to buying one. I could only find one on sworddepot and its Just under $100 cdn, And as I dont like buying from the states, because of our guys at the border, I kinda dont have a choice,

But let me, and everyone else for that matter know how it works and what not when you get it.

Will do, I just traded for it, sent out yesterday, so I am looking at 3 weeks til it gets here, maybe more because its a folder. I had him tighten the pivot for me, if they can flick it open at customs it's a no go.

Ya, I hope it gets through, I hate to hear about fellow canadians having customs problems, But it seems to happen Alot more than is need. Like I can see, you know 30" katana. But these folding knives just get outs hand.

nice scores there guys.... both great knives for the $$$$....

i've scored a few new knives recently also...:D and a tomahawk....:D

Show us some pics mike, ya gotta! :D
Ya, I remember awhile ago I bought a CS riflemans hawk, wasnt bad a bit heavy, But I liked it. After I moved out here, I started using out in the yard, I dug sod with it to put in a new walkway. That reminds me of how much I like tomahawks, ohh no,.... here I go :D

Hey Guys...

Fonly...

That knife should fire all the way open using only the flipper..

You may have to make a slight adjustment on the pivot...
May still be tightened down when it came from the facory to pass customs...

Make the adjustment and it will fire all the way locked..

Liam...

Great knife..

I've got the Military,, and it is one of my favorite knives...

Should serve you well...

I like kershaw knives. Fit and finish can't be any better. I have one of the first leeks and it was my EDC forever. I agree that it should open all the way to lock though. You need to adjust the pivot a bit. You may want to take it all the way out and dab some thread lock then adjust it down to where it works best for you. That way it doesn't back out on you.

My Leek was a little tight, put some Break Free on it and it opened fine.

BTW, yesterday my knife took a really weird fall on to the hardwood floor in my house and broke the safety bar off......must have landed on the flipper part.
Anyway, I went to Kershaw's website, went to the Contact Us section and clicked on warranty, filled out a little info section and sent this to them. In less than 20 minutes, got a reply that they would be sending me a new safety mechanism ....no questions asked!!! That's service!!

Compare this with the lack of service I got from Benchmade. The spacer that straddles the lanyard hole, cracked. I contacted Benchmade and they said I had to send the knife to them. I was quite prepared to buy the piece, but they said that it wasn't an option. :thumbdn: :thumbdn:

Living in Canada, sending a knife like an AFCK for repair is like playing Russian Roulette. The odds are high in favour of Customs gaining a new knife. All Canadians might want to keep this in mind when buying knives. Kershaw seems to have a much better policy towards its customers.

Doc

Hey Doc,

if you are unhappy with the AFCK (full size?), I could take it off your hands for you. ;) ...just let me know if you would like to trade for something, or maybe outright sell the AFCK....PM is fine.

or, you could take this opportunity to create a nice little file worked insert of aluminum to replace the plastic spacer. I suggest aluminum as you can easily shape and size it to fit.

and - to avoid a thread hijack:

I too have a Kershaw assist... Blackout Model 1550. I like it, and the shape of the handle which is just right to fit my hand...too many of the new knives are too skinny.

Cheers,
D

haha ya, as soon as I can find My set of hex keys, Ill fix'er up. Moving makes every thing soo fregin' hard to find, so it may have to wait a bit. :(

I hear you brother, moved 8 times in 3 years, soon to be 9, and all in the same little shit town.
You would think I was a minimalist in my possesions, but I accumulate more junk...

Thanks for the adjustment tip on the Storm Normark but it didnt do anything for me. The knife is brand new though so.... Loose or snug, still the same, she should butter up after break in I suppose. Liam and Fonly, I know what you feel in regard to moving. Last fall most of our crap was put into storage. We also sent 12 of those large rubber made tubs of belongings by air to the north. 3 of the tubs diappeared. I made the airline cut me a cheque for $900.00 and fly me return to a town in order to replace the lost items. Now Im back with half my crap in storage and half here. Ive moved twice this year and it sucks. Also after about 12 air flights in the last year through snow storms and or heavy turbulance Im whiped. I did however get to hump through the northern bush for most of a year with a big knife straped to my leg or more recently, a tomahawk in my belt. That part was great, I loved it, and want more. :D
