After lurking in the Fiddleback forums for a couple of weeks, I bought my first last night about midnight out of the flea market thread.

The whole time I was finalizing the deal I'm thinking "I've got to get up in 6 hours" :D

The worse part about Fiddleback Forge is deciding which one to buy!

I started out dead set on a Kephart, then I was leaning towards a hiking buddy and at the last minute out of now where I buy a recluse :D

Anyway, just thought I would post instead of lurk and I'm sure you guys will be seeing more of me around here.

I hope it's here by Sunday, I'm going to the woods!

Congratulations hope you'll be able to post some pictures. Nice score.

Careful .. they can be very addictive. Like potato chips .. you cant just get by on one. :)

The Recluse a pretty much do it all kind of design (IMO).

Kephart is amazing though. Go back to it! It's calling you....

Don't worry, I'm sure I'll add a Kephart as soon as one catches my eye :)

I'll get some pictures up as soon as I get the recluse to the woods.

Congrats! Please post pictures after you get it. Then go out, use it and post more. ;)

Congrats and welcome. The only thing better than the knives are the people in this sub forum. They will blow you away with their generosity, kindness, and knowledge. The Fiddleback is the "disease", but these guys are the "hosts". Prepare for the sickness my friend.

I've been wanting to get my hands on a Recluse for years. Maybe one day...

Post up some pics of yours when you get it! :)

Welcome man, and congrats on the Recluse. I really like the Recluse as a woods roaming and hunting knife.

Though I do think the Kephart is a better bushcrafting blade profile, I like the point for finer tasks like notching. The Recluse has a better belly for skinning and game processing.

As much as I love seeing pictures of that tuxedo Recluse Mist, I love carrying it on my belt even more. Your comparison with the Kephart profile is absolutely dead on, IMHO.

Congratulations on a fine choice of Fiddlebacks malada.

Congratulations on a fine choice of Fiddlebacks malada.

As much as I hated parting with it last winter, I am glad it found a loving home :) I like to think I provide a service for those who may be hesitant to use a new Fiddleback because it's too pretty :D

Great pictures Mistwalker!

Very nice comparison of the two side x side.

I think I made the right decision with the Recluse for my first.

I have a nice Bark River Aurora my kids gave me for my birthday to handle bushcraft needs :)

Welcome malada. The Kool-Aid tastes good around here. I'm partial to the Shadetree flavor myself.

Pay attention to mistwalker' photos and advice and you will learn a lot about which models will work best for you.

Congratulations on the Recluse. If you like that one, check out the Leuku and Patch which are bigger and smaller versions respectively of that design.

Thank you. I think you made a great choice. I think the Recluse is the better all around blade of the two. I'd rather craft bush with a Recluse, than process game wit a Kephart :)

Thanks for the compliment man :)

Welcome. The kool-aid is very addictive and may develop into a sickness.
There are some side effects to the sickness, symptoms include but are not limited to...
Excessive Drooling over Bonafide's almost weekly Sneak Peek thread
Visual Euphoria when someone post an epic photo of their Fiddleback Family in an interesting or unusual way
- (see Comprehensivist melon pic in the collections thread)
Abdominal Pain while waiting for the Fiddleback Friday thread (needing to use the restroom)
Empty Pockets from not being able to resist the urge to shark the latest offerings

The support group meets every Friday, and normally ends with Happy Sharking.
What a great sickness to have.
Preston

I've noticed things happen FAST on Fiddleback Friday.

I was watching last week....waiting...waiting...waiting.... Then I was "interrupted" (:)) by a customer and when I got back to my desk the thread had posted and was 4 pages long already.

Welcome to the club.:cool:

Sleepless nights spent sharking, and Fridays where work is often neglected, is SOP for many members here.

Some say it's healthier then booze and drugs, that's if your SO doesn't do you in.

The Recluse is a Savage design, the straight spine combined with a fair amount of belly works well for me.

One of my favorite Andy Roy designs. :D

Of course your first FF will always be your favorite,

...until you get your next. ;)
