With my new dagger getting made by a professional. I thought I'd give some metal work a try...

long Sad story here...

Anyways here's the plan I'll follow up with pics later.

Thick band saw steel from steel mill. The thing is as hard as diamond!

It took my grandfather a few weeks with a file to get it to this stage (he was retired too) no H/T nothing electric all be hand. Not the proper way to make a knife but I didn't fully make it.
It wont be beautiful...

Post the pictures when you think you have done the best you can do.

Richard

Forget that, post pictures at any stage of the game.

very very nice knives are made everyday with nothing but hand tools.
I've been making knives since '04 and only just got a belt grinder last Feb.

before then it was ALL hand work.

learn to drawfile, that helps a ton.

And +1 on the annealing.

Well, haha... I did what I wanted to do... Clean the blade up a bit. I tried reshaping it with my diamond files... Didn't work too well, ate through my cut off wheels, skated on my new hacksaw blades.... metal grinder worked... (kinda)... It was a very uneventful afternoon.

I did however get the rust off and used my water stones to put a nice Scandi and a nice satin finish on her. ( still ugly as sin )

Yes yes Nate, I wanted not to do anything with HT... it was more of an experiment.
