Well, I'm a dumbass

Asking hyperinflated prices is done for a reason. The seller knows he won't be getting $1000, but if you keep it up long enough, sooner or later someone's gonna think that $450 isn't such a bad price compared to a grand.
And that accomplishes two things. First of course, huge profit. Second, if it doesn't set a new standard in price for this item, it certainly sets a precedent.
And most current owners won't object to that.

So you see, the old reseller's game will never die. Sometimes we lose, but sometimes we gain. It's the buyer's greed, the need for instant gratification that causes the inflation. Demand is higher than supply. :)

Some of you seem to be implying the purchaser did something dastardly wrong. He didn't. If grabbing a deal in order to flip it is a sin then lots of us are gonna miss heaven by a mile. The only thing that would keep most from a deal like this would be the smell of a possible scam due to the low price and post count. I posted a bunch of my knives at stupid low prices back a few years ago when I needed cash fast. The only warnings I received about the unusually low prices were from whiners complaining I was bringing down the value of their knives. Nearly all were jumping over their mamas to be first to say "I'll take it!"
