hey all,
so im about to head off to Cali to my new station. I decided to call my pops to see if he would ship down a set of knives so i can stat my EDC rotation again. I told him the list of 5 knives id like for him to send down (all in CA legal) & this was the response i got:
"oh, well geez son, I'd love to bbbbbbbbbbbuuuuuuuuuuuuuuttttt...... well, while you were away, i started using some of your knives after i lost my one at work & well i have grown attached to them.........."

because i cant say no to my old man, im taking this opportunity to get a few more knives.

what do y'all think i should get? im thinking about getting 2 folders

only restriction is its got to be CA legal

Cali legal should be anything but an auto or a dagger (unless you face some kind of city restriction). If starting from scratch, I'd go for a Benchmade Presidio and a Spyderco Military.

Have fun picking out your new knives and welcome to The Golden State :thumbup:

This could be fun! What did you have before?

Our air here is cancerous as well, bring a mask.

but yeah there verykfew knives you cant get. I looked at the laws and basically no button knives and fixed has to be worn amd visible.

mainly case, kershaws, spydercos, a few BMs & bear n sons, bokers.

Im just looking for some good ideas for a new start off. personally if i could fund it I'd buy all the sames knives i asked for

What's you total budget and how many knives do you want to get for that price?

My suggestion is to start out with 2-3 of your absolute favorite that you had before then try something new.

Benchmade Griptilian, Spyderco Endura, Case Medium Stockman CV Yellow handles, Vic Explorer and a Mora?

As to autos, just depends on the officer, your attitude and how dirty or clean your record is. I had an officer once ask to see my knife, it was a Benchmade AFO. He fondled it, fired it, handed it back to me and said "This one would be better off staying at home". But nowadays with so many other fine manual knives out there to be had, why risk it. I do not find an auto to be substantially faster than a good manual anyhow. But if your arm or hand handicapped, then you can carry an auto in CA, no problemo.

California knife laws are very generous, with the exception of autos. Folding knives there is no blade length limit and fixed just has to be visibly worn. Some cities like Los Angeles have specific requirements, (I.e. Blade length under 3") but as long as you're not waving it around I don't see it as being to big a problem.

That being said, I'd go with an Emerson A-100 or a ZT 801. If you're looking to spend more, get a ZT 0600...if you can find one!

My suggestion, tell your dad to get his own knives. You were attached to them before he ever was.

If you have money, get a William Henry. They have many smaller bladed knives and if you call them, they will guide you. Or CRK Mnandi.

If you are on a budget, go Spyderco. They have many smaller bladed knives.

Or, medium budget, the Strider PT (the new models), which is a small knife (2 point something blade).

I'm a Dad many times over, and this is my feeling also.

+1, well actually +10 in my case

Let him pick one and send the rest to you. Not sure at all what CA laws are but I'd get an Emerson Combat Karambit and a CQC-7V and call it good but there's so many options out there.

Yup, attached to them or not, I wants ma blades, Pa.

:D

I gave my old man his pick out of my knife cabinet. One of 3 people to ever see inside it.

But I offered, he didn't just grow fond of them.

He picked a folder and fixed combo, btw.
