We went into the back yard with khukuri in hand. We cut a long limb from a tree as a center lodge pole to burn a fire in. She used the khukuri and stripped bark from the limb using it as a two handed draw knife. I explained it was ceramonial, but that it still had merit. We have talked about making a teepee before. It's still something we want to do.
Then we changed course with the same pole and cut it into a walking stick length. It is now in the garage drying. It will now be given to my mother in law, who needs a cane to walk with. She lives on 44 acres and likes to walk the property. Before she gets it, it will be made into a proper stick.
