Got bit by my SHSH trying (successfully) to keep it from falling out of its case onto the concrete floor. Had to get 9 stitches and had a couple nurses ask if I did it on purpose. My wife says I need to change hobbies...but I say it's an addiction not a hobby and there's no way to change now. She had no idea what I was talking about and just gave me the "deer in the headlights" look. Anyway...gotta have a few battle scars along the way...right??

OMG! that could have been potentially VERRRYYYY bad. Glad to see your alright though and in good spirits

OUCH! Be careful next time! I know it is hard to resist our instinct to protect our INFI. Sometimes I think it is cheaper to just let the darn thing hit the concrete. Trips to the ER aren't cheap. I got bit pretty good the last time I tried to catch my BMe from hitting the floor.

Damn, brother. Good thing the blade on my new Balisong isn't nearly as big as an SHSH. I've already bitten myself a few times learning simple openings and whatnot, but it ain't NEARLY as dangerous as a Busse.

Sheesh...hope that heels up soon. Just be glad it wasn't something serrated...like that beautiful Airkat.

bad dealio... so, you opened your credit card statement and saw "busse" listed several times for the month. to save an ass chewing from your wife you decided to chop your hand off.

did it work... i mean did she chew you out for the busse purchases?

.

Damn, you got cut up. Same thing happened to me a week ago. I was handling my Sarsquatch and it slipped out of my hand and I grabbed it right on the blade and it bounced off of my hand (after slicing through my palm) and cut my thumb all the way to the bone! Its balance point is right after the slab of micarta so it likes to get away from ya at times!

no words, just :eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:

Thimble collecting is MUCH safer...but, not nearly as fun! take care:thumbup:

2 things:

1- Just let it fall next time. A knife no matter HOW bad ass it is or how much it means to you is not worth risking your health.

2- That knife wants your blood, so for your safety you need to send it to me. Even if it decides it wants my blood, it won't be able to penetrate the protective steel wool that lines my body.

Seriously though, glad to see you're all right Chuck!

ever thought about getting a thick mat or carpet to put on the floor so you dont have to worry quite as much when you drop your knives?

Also had to make a grab to keep my BM from a trip down the stairs (would not have cared if my bare feet had not been in the path of destruction).

a few stitches, and all better. Not as big as yours.

I think I'd collect stuffed animals instead.

Meanwhile, I'll take the SHSH off your (rather dangerous) hands.

Maybe you just need practice.

Have your wife toss 15 to 20 knives a night in your direction.

Practice resisting the urge to catch them. :p

Damn that looks pretty bad. Glad your ok. I once droped a cheepo tanto on my bare foot, it gave me a nice gash, but nothing serious like that.

Next time, it could be your p*nis!!!

Send me that SHSH!!!!!

if you work with a balisong long enough, (and your not working on flipping routines), you come to have the inate reaction of jumping back, arms away and feet thrown backwards on tip toe any time a blade gets out of hand and airborne. I've been very lucky that all the blades i've had land on me or hit me have been with poor factory edges (meaning it didn't cut me badly at all, more of a scrape).

good luck on the healing :(

He couldn't have said it better. You can always get more busses, but you get only one right hand. So let the d**n thing fall and you will have a hand to wield the next one. I hope it heals fast!
