...Many of you know that Jack Alvarez, AKA 'jaxurman' trades and sells fine knives here at BFC, and some have even gone as far as calling Jack a 'dealer' *gasp*
Well, Jack isn't a dealer, he's just a guy that had an obsessive interest in fine knives way back when, collected many, and is now trading or selling them away as the mood fits him...that much is pretty much known by now I'd imagine...
It's also been said that Jack requests positive feedback about a completed transaction to be posted here after the deal is done...and in my case that was true...
Jack asked, pleaded, and demanded that I leave feedback for him, and I always said no. Initially it was just a joke, I was messing with Jack...but as time went on it was pretty pointed at times.
A lot of us use multiple venues for our dealings... BFC/KFC/TFC/TFL/ebay/KAN/TCEA/and the show circuit. Not Jack, he was doing all of his dealings here, and so with his requests that the folks that traded with him here leave feedback, it was starting to look like GB&U should be renamed JB&U...lol
Anyhoo, I stuck to my guns and refused to leave him a kind word...and eventually he stopped asking.
What you guys probably don't know is that Jack and I have had, what is it Jack, 5 or 6 multi-knife transactions? All were high-end trades, with very little cash exchanging hands...many thousands of dollars in knives going cross country on another man's word.
Every deal, every darn one of them was flawless, and each went without a hitch...over a year now, with many, many knives going in both directions.
But this last deal was without a doubt the very best! Jack advertised a rare Blackjack A/F dagger for sale or trade, and before I could get a word in on it, KodiakPA had made an offer...
I freaked! We've been looking for this particular knife for over 2 years, I didn't know Jack had it, and now it was going to someone else!
I wrote Kodiak a quick email, sent another to Jack, and asked if we could 'puhleeeease' have this knife? (We collect A/F daggers, the rarer the better...and are still looking for white handled Al Mar and BJK versions) *hint*
Kodiak was gracious enough to say "Sure bud, if you want it that bad, go for it" (Thanks Kodiak, I owe ya man!)
They talked, we talked, and a M/O was sent off 2 days ago. The knife arrived today...*WOW!*
(Thanks Jack!)
So this is it, for the record, completely unsolicted....
"I would not hesitate to do business with, or recommend to others, Jack Alvarez, AKA 'jaxurman' in ANY knife related transaction!" SKW
Jack has been completely truthful in describing his knives, fair in his prices for rare knives, extremely prompt in delivery, and has been an 'all around good guy' and a pleasure to do business with, for over a year now.
Our collections wouldn't be nearly as nice as they are without the help of some of the nice folks here like jaxurman and KodiakPA.
Thanks again guys, we really apprecite it!
p.s. The knife? A Blackjack Knives Applegate/Fairbairn dagger, S/N 00017! And it's dead mint! Flawless!
