Well I'm sure a few of you guys know now that Kabar released the bk21 this morning.

So now that the super duper long wait is over I think Kabar need to give us something else to wait for.

Kabar should probably leak a photo of a bk18, bk19, or bk20?

We need something new to keep us drooling over our keyboards for the next year or two.

After all, one can never have too many beckers!

I'm certainly looking forward to what the future holds in terms of new becker blades. :D

Someone in-the-know mentioned that the 18,19, and 20 were in the works but didn't say anything beyond that. And Ka-Bar has adopted a policy of not announcing products before they actually ship, which I kind of prefer to be honest.

If I got one I'd gladly use it but I think once people get the 21 in hand they won't want one anyway. Got a chance to play with the photo and BeckerWest and couldn't have had a bigger smile on my face, it's a performer!

I think a few years ago kabar said they wont make the bk6 because the machines they have can handle how long it is.

and if I recall properly I wrote a post about how kabar is making the bk21 now, so the machines they have should be able to make the same size bk6 as well. The general consensus is if they did make a new bk6 it would not sell very well. so they still won't make it.

I don't know how long the BK6 is compared to the Bk21 or the Parangatang but I seriously doubt that would have trouble selling them if they could make them. The BK21 is ~$145 and people are clamoring for it. I doubt the BK6 would cost more than that.

I've got 2 Patrol Machetes...and I would buy the KaBar version, if it happened.
I'll likely grab a 21 at some point; but not until Spring, at the earliest. Too many things demanding my time and money, right now.

Johnny1280 has a 6 blank that got done up for him by TMHunt, I'm sure I'll acquire a 21 by the gathering, I'm really interested in how the two stack up.

I really need to have a side by side performance review on the two. If the 6 winds out I might just make you an offer you can't refuse.
 
Lets forget the thinner stock stuff. Lets get back to what started all the magic. More .25 pleeeeeease. I need me a bk2 with a 7 inch blade!!
 
What I'd use the 21 or the 6 for is clearing trail and processing some wood for a fire. For me I need something that can handle a little hardwood and still be nimble enough to cut blackberry bushes and wild rose bushes, 3/16" is about right for me.
 
The camillus bk9 is the perfect thickness! (IMO) .210 inches is the magic number. I would kill for a machax .210inches thick.
