Well this blows

The really sad thing is, this is someone that knew exactly what they were stealing, you know what I mean?

It's even worse when they steal something awesome without knowing how awesome it is, then treat it like crap because they don't know any better.\

sounds like it was a beautiful boat, and hopefully a fun enough project.

One of my buddies said there are some canoe/kayak/paddling websites. You might want to post the theft on them in case someone sees it or the thieves try to sell it.

Best of luck recovering it. I have a vintage wood & canvas that I'd be really ticked off to lose.

Scumbags are everywhere. They hit my camper , again. It makes you want to rip their throats out.

Sorry about what happened. What really hurts is all of the sweat equity that was poured into the project.

Keep your eyes open for it and be prepared to throw someone a good beating at a moments notice. The only justice is Brooklyn justice.

I for sure call the police and file a report. It sounds like a unique item , so that could help.

Also put an ad in the paper, posters at all the outdor stores around, etc.

Crime is bad.

That is HORRIBLE! Post on craiglist lost and found, and tell the local and state canoe shops to watch out for it! I'm so sorry to hear that!

You may want to call anyplace that sells canoes or takes consignment in your area.

The last month my neighbor's nephews had their Honda 80 minibikes stolen out of his garage. The bikes were there just one day. The police in town were no help. I suggested that my neighbor call all the Honda places in state and give them the vin numbers. Well a week later the thieves called one dealership looking to get keys. Busted! Now they in trouble with the law and the bikes returned.

put an ad in the paper saying you are looking to buy a 16' cedar canoe and see what happens. you might find that greed is strong enough to make them even more stupid than stealing the cano.

I'm sure if you get ripped off in Germany or Ireland, there is a place around a town you go to look for the thieves. Nothing racist or bigoted about it...

Exactly.
There's ALWAYS a place like that, unfortunately.

That sux! I feel your pain. My father's pop-up camper was stolen off my grandmothers property about 8 years ago. Neighbors even seen them on the property messing around with it but thought they were friends. Police report was made but to this day no news. Hope things turn out for the best for you.

May the fleas of 1000 camels infest their armpits. May 10,000 vampire bats mistake them for a crippled giraffe. May a tired hippopotamus go to sleep on their car keys. :D

I hate thieves too. Makes you wish you were James Bond and you could pull out a remote detonator and sink them with the boat....

I hope you get it back soon!

That sucks man!
I hope you have pictures or something to identify that it was yours/buddies. If not and its found how are you going to prove ownership to the police?
Do you have a number plate or something on it?
If not I think you may be screwed. I'm not trying to be negative, just letting you know what happened to a friend of mine.
He had his bike (BMX) stolen and when it was found there was no way to prove it belonged to him. The new owner had a little name label on it already and it looked brand new...he said he just bought it at a garage sale.
I have my initials scribed very small on the keel of my canoe. So if they take the number plate and registration sticker off I can still prove its mine...mines aluminum though.

May the sewers of Rangoon back up into their breakfast cereal! (Another old Karnac favorite).

That stinks!! Best of luck getting it back. I can't comprehend being able to take something like that and feel OK about it. Thieves are scum.

Well I just got back from the lake, with no luck. None of his neighbors saw anyone there other than us. The only identifying mark would be the unique paint job. I cant see anyone else using a metallic car paint on a boat.
It was stolen from Lac Ste Anne by Gunn Alberta. No one got any pictures of the canoe so I think it is gone for good, Maybe we will get lucky and the police will recover it somewhere but its a long shot.
