Well this happened... the Machax

$500.00!!!! Thats all I've seen for a Cinnci Bk4 Thats Crazy money. Ahh what the hell the kids are smart enough they don't need college lol

Quite honestly, these days I would tend to have a bit more respect for the kid who is willing to dive into the woods with a Machax than many who end up languishing in colleges...

A quote from Ethan:

"Hey Doc.....

You have one of the very best....Cinci era with an industrial hardchrome finish, Estaloc scales and made during the last one or two runs.....Those and the runs just prior to it are the ones I am most proud of.....I almost got those right.....

BTW you have a very discerning hand......The Estaloc DOES have a "friendlier" feel and it was an absolute nightmare from a production stand point....It tended to shrink and twist in VERY interesting and unpredictable ways when it came out of the mold....It was plenty tough and I too liked it's feel but I learned to hate it.....

I agree with you about the Camillus version.....We went too thick and the blade geometry got upgefucht and the balance went haywire too.......I keep a Camillus made Machax in my tool box on my Kubota RTV and it reminds me all the time of the error of my ways.....The upcoming Machax I think you will like even better than your current one........

All Best...."

This is a quote from one of the threads (that I couldn't find) on BladeForums. I had saved it in my Machax folder.

Very cool man, thanks.

So, I'm one of those guys who doesn't particularly care for the Machax. My best friend LOVES his (he got the ones from my package deal on the 20s.) I have the 9, and the 20 for my "knife chopping" tasks. I have the 21 for my crooked handle chopping tasks.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder (or beer holder if you prefer) but many times in life, it is the average, plain, non-descript, ho-hum, or even some would call ugly things, that stay the course & end up being highly functional, reliable & "you can't kill it if you tried" gems. Examples in my life: Chevy Caprice & Crown Vic cop cars, the A-10 ThunderBolt (AKA WartHog), M-1 Abrams Tanks, our 2008 Dodge Power Wagon w/G-56, our Toyota 4Runner, Uni-Mog's, Mossberg shotguns, & for knives: BK&T. All have been called plain, unrefined, basic, bare bones & nothing special. But to those that know, those things mentioned above, are things of beauty. They last, get you there, no matter what & then get you back home. How can something that is so simple & affordable as a BK&T EVER be said to be ugly ? Well, that's beyond me cause' I don't think that at all. lol
