Well it’s time to try Spyderco as an addition to my EDC rotation. I haven’t had one in my rotation for years and so not sure how some of the newer or revamped models carry so I thought I would ask the BF community. I’m not to hung up on dimensions but really don’t want anything with over a 3.5” blade simply due to comfort. Pricing let’s say $200 or less. I prefer G10 handles or CF but the lightweight isn’t a strong NO. Oh and before ya ask I’m not a PM2 fan, to bulky for me

So what are your 3 top Spyderco EDC models and why?

Thanks

Hard to go wrong with a Delica, Endela, or Stretch. I didn't care for the old Delica because it was just a hint too small. The Delica 4 is just enough bigger to be a fantastic EDC for me. I prefer thin and slicey, so that's my go-to. Which isn't to say that the Endala or Stretch aren't slicey as well, it's just the Delica is even more so. The Endela and Stretch are practically identical to each other in length and have the same blade thickness, so choosing between those depends on your other preferences.

The FRN Spydercos lack premium feel, but you have a massively wide range of steels to choose from (although some are limited sprint runs that might be hard to track down). If you find you like the Delica or Endela or whatever, you can use what remains in your budget to get some custom scales - titanium, micarta, G-10, carbon fiber, copper, whatever, to give it that "premium" feel.

Yea that was one thing I didn’t prefer was the FRN scales, just didn’t like the bend. I know the LiL Native has steel liners (I believe) so that was one for consideration. Going into spring/summer also the lighter weight of the FRN would be a plus.

I have a lot of good results with the Gayle Bradley 2. It's my second favorite after the GB1.
I had a GB2 moons ago and liked it a lot. The action was super smooth I remember but idk if I ever tried to carry it. Thx for the recommendation

The Delica 4, Endura 4, Stretch, etc have inset steel liners (with bronze washers). No real flex. A bit heavier than the old models, but definitely still not heavyweights. Nothing wrong with the Native series either (plus they're made in the USA).

This will be very subjective but these are mine.

Delica 4 My first entry into Spyderco and still a favorite to this day, even amongst an array of Sebenzas. Perfect size for EDC pocket carry and still very ergonomic. Thin enough to cut but not too thin that I have to worry about being gentle with tougher jobs. Strong, simple lock. No excessive belly. All that and you even get liners and phosphor bronze washers. Just a great knife. They make several knives in the family (Dragonfly, Endela, Endura, Police LW) to fill whatever size requirement you're looking for with all the same features.

Tasman Salt 2 This continues on my reasons for liking the Delica since it's built on the same platform. But I love Spyderco's serrated hawkbills and find them incredibly useful in my line of work. As an added bonus it will never rust. This particular pick will be far more subjective though.

Brouwer This model was just discontinued so it might get harder to find now, but it's like it takes my favorite knife ever, the Sebenza, and rolls in a few extra features like a lockbar insert and stabilizer and an opening hole. A nice additional touch for me is a green G10 scale. It has a little more belly than I typically like but still manages to be a good all-round shape.

I’ll check out the Brouwer more, haven’t seen that one

I have owned that and it’s WAY to thick in pocket for me and if I’m being honest, it’s ugly too
Opinions vary a great deal. Your views on the Yo2 couldn’t be any further away from mine. Different strokes and all that.

Like was mentioned a few posts back , the Brouwer looks like a nice little knife. I kinda want one myself.

My biggest issue with the Manix is that it’s pretty wide in pocket due to blade shape IMO. I’m finding I less like the leaf shaped blades and more the streamline ones

The Ikuchi is so streamlined that the blade fits entirely within the handles.

I like the Delica and Endura, but there is a sea of choices here.

I'd say find the one you like the best, just make sure it has the backlock. Spydercos backlock is very strong and also keep the knife shut; it will never open accidentally on your pocket.

Not dizzin the other locks, I just like the backlock best.

I’m a fan of the compression lock as well
