I’m a fan of the compression lock as well
Yeah, that would be more fun to play with for sure.
That said, if I like the knife I enjoy opening and closing even the most boring locks, even slippies!

Very nice. About 10 years ago I had what I think was a sage 3. It had an ironwood handle with either titanium or brushed stainless bolsters and it was a back lock. It was a little heavy but I loved it. I don’t know what I was thinking by selling it.I haven't tried all of them but one of my favorites is the Sage 1 or I guess the Sage series.

Honestly blade steel I could care less about. You might figure out what blade steel you would like and then look at the models with that blade steel.
My guess would then be a Police or Endura. Maybe a Native. My biggest issue with the Manix is that it’s pretty wide in pocket due to blade shape IMO. I’m finding I less like the leaf shaped blades and more the streamline ones

I'm a big fan of the kapara. If I understand Sbs1974 correctly, many Spydercos can be “bulky” in the top to bottom dimensions, not blade or handle width, due to their many “leaf” designed blades with SpydieHole to boot. Models like the Chapparel, Natives, Dragonflies etc are thin but still “bulky” for their size due to their leaf blade designs. The more “streamlined” Spydies are more difficult to find. The Ikuchi is interesting but I’m not a front flipper fan. Another that should be mentioned is the Kapara. I’ve not owned one (yet) but I’ve heard many describe the Kapara as a more streamlined PM2 (dimensions are similar). It also has an upgraded build with CF scales, upgraded pivot and a deep pocket carry wire clip which is Spyderco’s best IMHO

I second the Gayle Bradley Dos. It's my favorite, I actually prefer it to the GB Uno.I have a lot of good results with the Gayle Bradley 2. It's my second favorite after the GB1.
The Sage 5 lightweight would be right up your alley then! Compression lock, s30V steel and, unlike some other lightweight models, it has a pivot bushing that virtually eliminates an off-centered blade.I had a Sage 5 long long ago and it was great
The 20cv sprint Kapara was my first spyderco, and while it was neat, it was also too narrow for me to grip comfortably. So now it just sits alone in a box while the GB2 gets all the pocket time.I don’t own too many Spyderco’s because of how they carry in pocket, however, I’m gonna have to second the Kapara. I have some cosmetic mods done, but the stock Kapara with CF scales is also beautiful.
It carries super thin, it is smooth, it has a compression lock and it is super comfortable in use.
