Well used blades

How's that thing been working for you? I've been looking for a good chopper and this one has my interest.

This beast works amazingly. I sharpened it once, and that was just improving on the grind Buck already put on it. I used it to the point you see now since then with the same sharpening, and I just finished slicing some peppers and tomatoes for a salad. That is after hacking through 1" knots, making kindling, and feather sticks. I took some rounds and made them manageable sizes for the upcoming winter. I limbed a bunch of trees and cut down some smaller ones. From what I have learned this far, it is the best chopper I had, but it is not so good with standard utility. I didn't realize how often I used the tip on a knife until I didn't have one. I completely recommend it, though.

Thanks for lots of info. You bring up a good point about not having a tip though. Would you recommend the buck over the becker bk9 of you've had experience with it?

And so I'm not totally off topic, here's a knife!

I have both, and it would be hard to choose one over the other. I suppose it mainly depends on the purpose you have in mind for the blade. I would recommend carrying a smaller fixed blade either way. I have found that there are some jobs these chopping beasts aren't meant to deal with.
Sweet looking BM. What model is it?

Thanks for the help. I'll just keep researching and decide what I really need out of the blade. After all, there are many, many other options out there. The Benchmade is an old 750 Pinnacle that my dad gave to me. He bought it back in '96-'97. I EDC'd it religiously for a couple years, but eventually gave it back to him because he missed it so much.

I'm sure I have other knives with more used up blades...

but I used this all up myself.

Actually, here's one off the net....

On my knife, I bought two of them some years ago and slightly messed up modding that one. I took it to work and began to see what it would take. That's how it looked after about three years of things like trimming plastic from aluminum by hitting the spine with a plastic hammer and the related frequent sharpening.

The knife is still quite serviceable.

The last one is impressive. I wonder if it actually required as many sharpenings as it seems to have received.

Sadly my interest in this knife hobby thing has only lasted less than a year, so I don't really have any really used knives to display. It's an interesting thread, though.

That is no excuse. The knife I showed? I have had it for less than two weeks. Whats your excuse again? Get to work!
jk, jk. I will settle for moderately used blades as well.

Don't mind the beers, but this knife has seen about 20 months of use at 10 hours a day. Doesn't look like it. But I sand it down ever few months and give it a polish.

Very nice. Who made that piece?

This one was my grandfather's combat knife. It saw action. I restored it.
