Well worn Busse's?

If I showed you a pic of my Glock knife which I've used to dig out stumps, split wood, dig a garden, use as a torch and fire poker, etc. and left submerged in water over winter and burried in the ground...you probably wouldn't recognize it.

I don't plan on showing my Busse the same abuse. I just did that to the Glock because it was cheap and I wanted to see what it could handle.

But in looking through threads the only wear I've seen on Busse's is on the coatings/finishes. No geometrical or structural wear. So do they actually wear? If so, please share some pics of your well worn Busse.

Thanks

You should see her now

That's not abuse for a Busse, that's just showin' it some love :D

I dunno about that. I mean on the Glock, the blade is 100% rusted/pitted, the hilt/bottle opener is not attached tightly and is so bent it wont lock into the sheath, the handle is so deformed that the butt-cap/pommel actually fell off. Taking it to a file will STILL give the thing an edge that'll make a few slices believe it or not. The sheath is like new though!!!

As I said I won't do that to my Busse but I'm guessing if I did it'd come out better off than the Glock did.

I guess some stories to go along with the wear pics will help to support the reputation of the Busse name.

Thanks

Unless you oversharpen with too coarse a grit, I can't see whittling away the blade anytime soon.
I have seen some pics of heavily used blades losing a slight amount of blade width, but it's pretty minimal, about as often as any other brand of knife. A lot of times you can steel out minor dings and rolls without removing any steel.

So far, only Dave has stepped up the place pic-wise....let's see some more!

Thanks! :)

That wasn't too long ago. It was a day after a hurricane came through and I, my girl, and even my father at his house used it ALL DAY LONG. Its also the knife I learned the limits of INFI on. I learned to satin finish on. I learned to use a belt grinder on.

I think what your not getting is that these knives are beasts. Most people know how to refinish knives in here. Most people know how to sharpen out dents and dings if they hit a rock.

So as for finding trashed busse knives, better find someone that went crazy on a pile of rocks and didn't know how to sharpen it back up.

When you get the right edge on a Busse you can go out and chop up wood all day long and come back in and still shave with it. Seriously. Why would anyone make this S*&t up???

I think part of it is most guys in here that use their knives have already taken the time to stop what they are doing and snap a few pics just for this forum. They have been there and done that. Posted them in pics and videos for all to see. But then you get weekly new threads saying "why doesn't anyone use their INFI???"

It gets old, at least to me. Not saying annoying, just get bored.

My Busse is pretty new , but it's also a satin finish . So I'm guessing it will take a loooooooong time before it shows much wear .

BTW EMT, I can understand you being a skeptic. A lot of forums have bad information, kids just having fun learning to use a video camera and youtube and so on.

This forum is far from that.

Not sure exactly what you are looking for, but here's a few I took today,( I use her usually several times a week) clearing some things that are hanging into the road
The only abuse ( for a Busse) she's seen is when I chop through things into the ground and into a rock or once I was removing a palm root ball and smacked her into a rebar that was hidden in the ground, edge dented a bit, but realigned right away
