Hi,

I was wondering if anybody had any experience with the Wenger Service Center in NY? Specifically, I have a Wenger Outdoorsman (3.25") which is out of production and I was hoping to have the scales replaced as well as a general tune up on the knife. (eg polish some main blade scratches/sharpen it and replace a loose corkscrew) It is one of my favorite SAK knives (with a lock blade) and I was hoping they can service it without replacing it. Do they do a good job? How much would they charge me or is it under warranty? Would they return it to me if they can't service it? It's still in decent shape.

Any info would be great. Thanks in advance.
:)

Have you tried to contact them directly? Since you are looking for a repair rather than a replacement, you may want to see specifically what they can do for your knife.

I tried to call them and they would only let me talk to the customer service rep and not the repair guy. She wasn't too knowledgeable. She didn't know what scales were on the knife.

Sounds like they may replace rather than repair the knife. Hopefully we will hear from someone who has already dealt with them for repairs soon.

I have sent in a Wenger with the lockblade lock not working. It was an older model and they replaced it with a whole new knife. I did not get the old knife back. It was fairly speedy service though.

The scales came loose on a locking Wenger I had ordered from LL Bean. I believe in my case they replaced it with a new one, same model, so it's probable that if they replace it, it will be replaced in kind.
