Wenger - Sigh.......

The Wenger SI was discontinued four or five years ago, unlikely to ever return. It was better than the Vic version IMHO.
Other than the bail, I've seen no practical difference between the two, at least the two I own.

That's the whole point, or it is for me at least. It's all about the bail. I had a bail on my old scout knife dad gave me. I had a bail on the MIL-K knife and TL-29 that I got from the supply room in the army. All the knives that had any kind of lanyard/keychain attachment when I was a kid all had a bail. And the bail never caused any problems if you were just halfway on the ball and aware it was there. And with the Wenger, you can just take the bail off it it annoys you. Or put a fine nylon cord through the hollow rivet.

But…and it's a big 'but' for me, I hate the keyring attachment on the pioneer/farmer. For some odd corporate reason, probably known only to Carl Elsner, Victorinox does not use the same keyring setup on the alox knives as on the cellidor knives. On the tinker, recruit, and any other regular SAK, the keyring is a thicker material, and set back at a bit more of an angle to the knife handle. This puts it more out of the way. But, on the alox, they use a cheap looking thing that sticks up near right angle to the knife, and pokes into the heel of the hand at unexpected moments if you bear down while using the knife.

Victorinox needs to put back the hollow rivet. Or use the same keyring attachment as on the rest of the Victorinox SAK's. Or bring back the Wenger type of bail.

And the Wenger SI blade is shaped a bit different. A bit more belly in the spear point.

Exactly!!!:thumbup::thumbup:

(For the record, I have a second Wenger SI with the bail still attached. These are the only two SAKs I own.)
