Well looks like another addiction is started. But at least this is a less expensive addiction. My other is Ruger MKII pistols. Went back to pawn shop today and picked up this NIB Spyderco. Picked it up for $70 out the door. He's going to go through the collection he bought and pull out any more Spydercos for me. This blade is marked VG-10. Whats the difference in VG-10 and 440. I know guns but sadly not much on knives.

Wow that's a great deal!

VG-10 is a nice standard steel that sharpens easily and takes a nice edge with pretty good corrosion resistance. It's a lot better than 440, slightly better than 440C but to me it feels a lot more smooth than 440C.

Overall, you got that knife at a steal of a price! If you ever want to offload it, I would be more than happy to take it :p

Enough to turn the faces of most of us the colour of the scales on my Tenacious. I'm with Enfield...go buy a lottery ticket.

As a non paying member we aren't supposed to discuss the "worth" of knives with you. It's a simple trip to that auction site and do a "sold" listing search. Otherwise you can get a paid membership and everyone would be happy to talk value.

I do not get the comment on gold membership and value. The OP stated what he paid and then asked a question about the steel. He never brought up anything related to value.

He stated:
How good a deal?
That sounds like a question about value.

Umm, what happened to the scales on this knife? I've never seen this Spyderco before, or the box...

I doubt it's NIB, but if it is, this is amazing. They have been out of production for a while, and they are sought after by collectors.

I guess NIB can be somewhat subjective. But let's just say not a single scratch or mark on knife. And sorry about question about how good a deal. I am on many gun forums and any questions about values never have any issues.

Kind of a rough welcoming we are giving this guy huh. I cannot really tell from the picture, but if the knife is functioning well, (opens and closes smoothly, lockup is good, no scratches) then I suggest you keep the knife (And the box) and take care for it.
If you bought a Glock 17 L P 1st Gen, at a good price, would you think you got a good deal?
Welcome to the forum man, glad to see you take interest in blades, hope your collection will soon be as extensive as your firearms

"How good a deal" is asking for a quantitative value. It's really not a big deal. Just figured I would tell him about the rules and explain why nobody is answering that question directly. Nobody is saying he should get an infraction.

And in his last thread he asked this
"I know it depends on model but is it pretty safe that the Seki City Spyderco knives are worth that much."

That's asking about value. Again no big deal but shouldn't someone point out the rules? Nobody is attacking him. Just letting him know why people aren't going to post an actual dollar amount. OK let's move on now.
